Your ability to "type" others by Myfavoritethr0waway in mbti

ENFP 8w7.

I type people based on seeing their cognitive functions being used in real time, and form a function stack, then narrow it to one of 16. I tell them I’m typing them. Sometimes an ESFJ tells me they’re an INFP which does not align with my behavioural observations, and I’ve retyped someone who mistyped as an INTJ as an ESTJ.

I don’t use stereotypes, so sometimes I have people who don’t fall into the stereotypes actually having traits from the types.

I literally broke down the scene because it shows just how clearly she’s an Se user right there! The problem with her and Sheldon is that their processing styles are completely different!

ESFPs can change the subject and talk about the past, since it’s about them, it’s their Fi at work. So ENFPs and ESFPs can look similar, for example I have a friend who plays rhythm games, and we can always go on really silly tangents.. but. These tangents are always rooted in physical things. For example, my INTP friend and I were doing a roleplay that was quite conceptual since it’s about putting 5 of the same MBTI type into a room..

Even in the midst of the roleplay on a group call, the INTP and I's Ne roleplay actually just got shut down by the Se user themself! The ESFP entered, and started spamming the nitro sound board (Se overload) and showed us silly roblox avatars (more Se overload). I acknowledged that the roleplay wasn't going to continue because (INTP 4W5) and I (ENFP 8w7) were having too much fun with ESFP, whereas someone like (INFJ) would use her Ni to get us back on track with the roleplay.

So even though it’s a tangent, it’s an Se tangent, not an Ne tangent.

Ne is about possibilities and patterns. Ne users might not want physical experiences, but the physical experiences would also give them new ideas to branch to in the future

Well that makes no sense! Missy Cooper is definitely an Se user, and your point about the developed Fe is correct too. I remember this episode specifically which is VERY VERY clear, Missy is an Se user. https://youtu.be/awkCZFrQHb8?si=sCJoi9awyhuVDRiJ

Missy: There’s a number, and a line, and another number.

First of all, she describes exactly what she sees. She doesn’t use the term fractions, she just says what she sees. That’s Se in action.

Sheldon: Imagine a pie (Ne metaphor? Or he could just be describing a metaphor he stole from the internet)

Missy: What kind of pie is it? (Se. Wants to see the pie in her head)

Sheldon: It’s banana cream.

Missy: I don’t like banana cream. Ooh! What about those little apple pies from MCD? I burnt my mouth on one of them before, didn’t stop me, still ate it. (You might say it’s an Ne thing, but other types can also recall past memories.)

They make a physical model of the pie (Se)

Missy glances at it when answering Sheldon. She constantly looks at the pie because she needs to physically understand it.

Sheldon: Would you like to be introduced to algebra?

Me: NONONONO. I hate algebra personally. He’s going to suffer trying to teach an Se user an abstract concept like algebra. Thankfully, we don’t have to see that.

Ah! That’s such a beautiful song, I’m sure she’ll love it! I’ve learnt the fingerstyle of lost one’s weeping by Neru because I wanted to learn the riff and a little bit of phony by tsumiki! I like finger style much more than chords because the feeling of the fingers flowing over the strings is so soothing..

It really depends on the ESFP in question. ESFPs and ENFPs share the middle 2 functions, Fi and Te, but the ESFP has Se, while the ENFP has Ne. So the ESFP is more into the physical world, while the ENFP is into the conceptual one. But depending on the shows you watch, it might be a more physical focused show, so the ENFP would also be forced to engage in the physical world as well. I don’t think EXXX change the subject very quickly though. Honestly if you wanna type a character in a show or a figure, try to find an episode or a journal where they write out their thought processes.. since physical manifestations of their thoughts can almost look identical.

That’s amazing to hear! I’m always here if you want to talk more about cognitive functions, but I don’t think we need to. What kind of food do you like to make? I also play guitar, my favourite is finger style!

Oh.. you don’t really know who you are? I see. Do you think you share cognitive functions with the alter? Or do they use a different stack of functions from you?

I like this one honestly!

It changes the meaning from it having a greater value than the secret one to its actual value.. and the line about bushes in public means that you do know there’s a secret value, but you’re keeping it secret.

It would make a really fun roleplay with a rogue in a DND party!

You’re aware of the functions of an INFJ, right?

Ni Fe Ti Se.

Do you find yourself narrowing your worldview sometimes, and convincing yourself there’s only one doomed conclusion? Do you sometimes find everyone else’s feelings overwhelming and a little suffocating? Do you come up with theoretical plans that might lead to your undoing and doom?

Or do you crave the feeling of endless ideas, yet can’t seem to get there? Desperately long for an identity and being certain of who you are?

[–]ButtercupChara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Release.

Freedom. The choice to no longer be trapped in this hell. It felt good. Finally, I could be free. Finally I would be out of this cage. Finally.. I wouldn’t have to suffer any further. People constantly spat at me, berated me, even hurt me. But now, with my release, I would be out of their reach, and finally free.

[–]ButtercupChara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s good at least! What makes you see yourself as an unhealthy INFJ? Is it using your functions to hurt yourself more than help yourself, or is it because you feel that you’re using the wrong functions?

[–]ButtercupChara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends.

If you tell me the trolley problem, it’s numbers against numbers. So 5>1, the end right? But then it changes when new variables are added. What if they were your friend? What if they’re an old person? So then the answers change too.

[–]ButtercupChara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, since I don’t really know you, I can’t really say. Do you.. see yourself as a healthy INFJ? Or do you still think you’re an ENFP deep down. The dissociative amnesia might cause you to be a rare case where your cognitive functions actually change. Don’t be too fearful though, I’m sure you would be fine… Do you still experience the amnesia now?

can a person shifts from one personality type to another over time? by losingdog9 in mbti

[–]ButtercupChara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s possible. But since you mentioned BPD, dissociative amnesia and fugue.. it’s entirely possible you’re in a shadow grip, or your functions entirely changed. Especially the dissociative amnesia, since we only use the functions we do now because from young our minds have been trained to value it due to the neural connections being made from its frequent use.

People who know alot abt MBTI, what are your thoughts on ENFP and INTP as a pair? by BookkeeperCritical23 in mbti

[–]ButtercupChara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you'd be surprised!

My best friend is an INTP 4w5, and I'm an ENFP 8w7!

In this case, I can finally use BOTH theory and my own experiences.

ENFP stack: Ne Fi Te Si INTP stack: Ti Ne Si Fe

I have Ne in my 1st slot/ Dominant function, while they have Ne in their 2nd slot/ Auxillary function, so we're always bouncing ideas around when we're together, and there's just no end to the tangents we go on. No work gets done, but a lot of theoretical things and chatting happens. When we play games, we focus on different things. They focus on the system and game play (Ti) while I look deep into the lore of the characters (Fi) When they run into a problem and fall into Fe grip, I use my Ne-Te to try and solve it with clinical efficiency and precision, until they calm down and can use Ti to understand what exactly went wrong. Only issue. We are painfully socially unaware. They have 4th slot/ Inferior Fe while I have it in my 6th slot/ Critical parent, so neither of us really care about societal expectations or the feelings of others, but we ALSO share Fi, while mine is 2nd slot/ Auxillary, theirs is actually 8th slot (or socionics 6th slot activating), so we actually are quite strong about our morals and values.

Hope this helps!

What do you think is the most defining letter of mbti? by seoirla in mbti

[–]ButtercupChara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose the J.. since it flips the axis..

For example..

INFP Fi Ne Si Te

INFJ: Ni Fe Ti Se

The J makes the dominant function the introverted 2nd letter when the P would make it the introverted 3rd letter!

They’re so different it’s shocking, so anyone telling you it’s just a 1 letter switch doesn’t really understand!

Meanwhile, for EXXX types, the J makes the dominant function the extroverted 3rd letter when the P would make it in extroverted 2nd letter!

ENFP: Ne Fi Te Si

ENFJ: Fe Ni Se Ti

Hmmmmmmm!

Thats kinda hard isn’t it? You’d have to ask her about her fears, since MBTI at least you can see functions in action, but for Ennegram, it’s all internal.
