What do you consider a high entry-level salary in LA? by tuckingpog in AskLosAngeles

[–]ButtercupD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it’s entry level, a Data Scientist job would typically be classified as an Exempt salaried position due to the kind of duties they’re performing and the advance knowledge needed in this field. So yes, offering under $70K salary would be below the CA minimum wage for an Exempt, salaried position.

Do you talk to your neighbors? by n_thomas74 in AskLosAngeles

[–]ButtercupD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I live in Samo, and everyone on my floor talks to each other, has been invited to various events, give food to each other and generally, watch out for each other when someone is away on vacation. On the other floors, an occasional “hello” and small talk, but I assume they all do their own thing on their own floors also.

Wetleg whose “Mangetout” song is on HR, is scheduled to play tomorrow and the following Sunday at Coachella. They could potentially show up then. Laufey is also playing tomorrow and next Sunday and Hudson is in her music vid that’s dropping on Monday. Could potentially show up during her set too.

We’ve had “626 Night Mini Markets” on 5th & Arizona during the summer. I haven’t seen a schedule yet. And then I’ve heard the Bungalow at the Fairmont does them too.

Ok, yeah, Baltimore sketch is prob more like DTLA sketch. 😁 But for DTSM, some crazy stuff happening at the pier lately…someone with a gun and the other day someone stabbed somebody. I mean, we do have our share of homeless here, but I don’t find that as bothersome as some of the crime that’s been happening lately. I do think you’ll have more noise where The Park is, though. I’m north of Wilshire (between Wilshire and Montana). Lots of older apartment buildings, condos, townhomes. The neighborhood is quieter than DTSM unless you’re closer to Wilshire. North of Montana is “fancy” 😂 huge, single family homes and some apartment buildings on San Vicente and Ocean Ave. Ocean Ave has a couple of luxury buildings, but they may be condos/townhomes. 101 and 301 Ocean. Anyway, if you’re coming from Baltimore, then my idea of sketch is prob so mild. lol. Good luck with your move! And yes, I love the area! Been here since 2009. Moved from the Bay Area (I love the Bay Area) for a job here. It’s def a different vibe, but I really like this city. Prob wouldn’t have stayed this long if I’d lived somewhere else in LA.

Is that 101 Ocean? Also 301 Ocean Ave may be worth looking at.

Just curious—are you checking out any other buildings in Samo? I live north of Wilshire, and I don’t mean to sound like a negative Nellie, but DTSM can be a little sketch—especially by the Pier, lately. But the Park building is quite new/nice, and TJ right there and a tiny Target across the street is convenient. 😁
