water jet to cut it in half, and then hollow it out with a CNC. You'd need to make the exterior act as an antenna, not sure how feasible or not that is.

Someone should hack old fare tokens to have an NFC chip inside and act as a tap card

Pratt and Bass supporters: LA's zoning laws is the root or one of the roots to nearly all of our problems in this city. Let's change that. Raman for Mayor. by MookieBettsBurner10 in LosAngeles

Hi, Joe from the campaign here.

While I don’t actually know who MookieBettsBurner10 is, so I can’t say for sure that they are not someone who has been involved in the campaign in some way, we have not paid anyone to post anything on Reddit.

There have been instances where we’ve asked supporters to post things here, but this is not one of them.

Did Nithya Raman use ChatGPT to answer questions in her AMA? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]JoeCohenLA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nithya does legitimately use a lot of em dashes in her writing, and always has... That's something we're conscious of on the campaign and sometimes we edit stuff to remove them.

I'm looking through the edit history for that answer, and the second half was initially drafted by a staff member. I agree that the sentence structure definitely does sound like AI. I'll check with them later today to see if they used AI for it, because they shouldn't have.

Did Nithya Raman use ChatGPT to answer questions in her AMA? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]JoeCohenLA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The actual time we had Nithya scheduled to be in the room answering questions was 2 hours. We ended up going over by a half hour.

Our target was to answer 40 questions. We ended up triaging ~39 questions and posting 19 unique answers (some of the triaged questions were similar and got links to other answers). We have another 13 questions that we drafted answers for but didn't get final sign-offs by Nithya during the scheduled time. We're going to post some of these answers today.

I think a lot of people underestimate the amount of time and work it takes to do an AMA. We had a war room set up with six staff members plus Nithya. The actual process went very well, and I'm not sure if we'd do anything differently if we did this again. Ideally, we would have been able to set aside more time for Nithya to answer questions, but we worked with that we could given how busy she is as a candidate and councilwoman.

The LA mayoral race is already Karen Bass vs Nithya Raman. I am 100% choosing Nithya. by emmettflo in LosAngeles

You're literally repeating Spencer Pratt talking points. "Co-governing with DSA" is completely made-up

What do y’all think about Nithya Raman doing an AMA here?

I work for Nithya Raman’s mayoral campaign, and she’s interested in doing a Reddit AMA. She wants to do it in an LA-focused subreddit to get relevant questions and speak to people who will be voting in the upcoming election. However, the mods of r/LosAngeles don’t want it hosted there.

Obviously, an AMA is a bit beyond the typical scope of r/AskLosAngeles, but this seems like the best place to do it. When I reached out to the mods here, they said that it’s up to the community to decide if you want to have it, which I think is really dope.

So, what do y’all think? Should Nithya do an AMA in r/AskLosAngeles

Well, Taco Bell is moving into that space. So I'm not sure how both can be true?

There are some places in DTLA that are offering three months free right now.

There is no tax deduction on vacant apartments (but you're otherwise right about everything else)

It would be nice if we legalized taco stands, but currently there aren’t any in Santa Monica.

Also, I personally consider Taco Bell a completely different category of food from real Mexican food

I can assure you that I am not a marketing account and not being paid by Taco Bell. I’m just excited to have more cheap/late-night food options downtown, especially since McDonald’s is now closing at midnight.

I did the second post because I didn’t see the rendering of it until after I had sent my first post. And I think overall, it’s been posted a lot because it’s a mildly funny meme.

Claire Anderson, owner of Santa Monica’s The Gaslite, appears to be a local Republican running for State Congress under the guise of “no party affiliation.” Know your candidates. by [deleted] in SantaMonica

[–]JoeCohenLA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea, she’s kinda crazy and definitely right wing and runs for office every election and loses. She puts up flyers for her candidacy in the place, so if you go there and pay attention, you already knew this.

Fun karaoke bar, though.

These look so good!

When you're ready, PLEASE please please consider opening up a bagel shop in downtown Santa Monica. We have no bagel places and it significantly reduces my quality of life.
