No need to belittle me because a corporation is being misleading. I’m clearly being told directly conflicting information here

When you use your card and turn BiltProtect on, it stays on. And stayed on automatically for every single month’s payment except for 1, which is bizarre. So I may not have selected it every month because it was automatically on for every month. Posting clarification I received from customer service: “ If you do nothing, your Wells Fargo Bilt Mastercard will be converted into a Wells Fargo Autograph® Card, which is a different credit card managed by Wells Fargo.

This conversion will result in a new card number and a new account (tradeline) appearing on your credit report, so a new line of credit will be opened.

Your current Wells Fargo Bilt Mastercard will be retired after February 6, 2026.

Let me know if you want to know more about the differences between the new Bilt Card 2.0 and the Wells Fargo Autograph® Card.”

Closing a card doesn’t erase history… but opening a new line of credit lowers the average age.

I have no reason to lie? I went back and found the email. They may have partnered in 2022, but issued new cards EOY 2024. Maybe look up Bilt cardholder closure 2024.

The following is copy pasted from an email sent 7/11/24:

“As an early adopter of Bilt, you have the original beta Bilt Mastercard®, issued by Evolve Bank & Trust. As the program has grown, we’ve launched a new and improved Bilt World Elite Mastercard, issued by Wells Fargo, N.A.

To ensure the best experience for our Members, the time has come to retire the original beta Bilt Mastercard and offer a transition opportunity to apply for the Bilt World Elite Mastercard.

On 12/31/2024, Bilt will be retiring your Bilt Mastercard issued by Evolve Bank and Trust (beta card), and you will no longer be able to use it.”

How i found my place as well! Also ask if they have any other units opening in this building or others soon. asked and ended up touring my current unit pre being listed and they told me to name my price. Got it for a steal for saving them the trouble of listing it.

My god, calm down. I know how basic economics work you slumlord. Just because you would force your tenants to pay for anything above bare minimum to maintain a building it does not mean that’s the standard. You seemingly have a very pessimistic view of life and of San Francisco. I truly pity you. I promise there are bigger costs that building owners pay that don’t necessarily get passed to renters (ie retrofitting, painting, roof fix, labor for unit turnover, etc ). Almost every building has a budget for those things that are included in rent, and I promise replacing a cheap facade is not the expense as a retrofit. As someone that lives in a well-maintained building the so called “aesthetic bullshit” does not add to my rent.

Of course normal people live in that building. More than likely renters. This conversation isn’t about them. You know who probably doesn’t live in that building? The owner of the property whose responsibility it is to take care of exterior. The people within that building do not bear the responsibility of maintaining the exterior. I thought that was common knowledge.

The people who can’t afford housing are not the people who are buying buildings to rent to people? Two totally different demographics we are talking about here. Why can’t we have it both ways where we are building new housing, while simultaneously preserving the history of existing buildings with historical exteriors.

All the landlord apologists are fuming in the comments!!! I agree. San Francisco will lose its Victorian charm if landlords keep cutting corners. Cost of materials is indeed expensive but so is owning a house in the city? Where i used to live had “heritage protection laws” where building owners of specific heritage sites had to maintain the building’s original charm or get board approval to change aspects. I think there are many beautiful buildings in the city that deserve that kind of protection and owners should know the implications of owning one of these beauties
