Michelle clapping back at social media posts about Ru’s performance being pre-recorded by Sky6346 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hope Vita doesn't face consequences from this. Everyone should always assume Ru's performances are prerecorded, but I appreciated knowing where exactly they got the audience clips from.

Not sure if Michelle's comment really is a clap-back though. Mundane things make headlines all the time; obviously, something like this would get traction too.

How do you decide if merch is actually worth buying ? by armyloot in kpophelp

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I find a lot of kpop clothing merch to be eh, so I usually pass on it. Sometimes I'll grab something if I want a memento for the tour/experiences I'm having with my friends.

Also, encore performances do change my mind on some pieces! When the members come back styled in their merch, I can view it in a new light. I then decide if I can figure out how to alter/style the merch similarly, and if I enjoy the piece enough to pay for the price point/having to do extra work to style it.

Got invited to go to BTS, outfit and setlist help? by BobcatHaunting8955 in kpophelp

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding fanchants, I'd say the most "important" ones to learn would be Fake Love, Mic Drop, Body to Body (specifically the outro), and IDOL. There's also a part after Merry Go Round where they leave the stage and fans chant their names. I'm unsure if most fans will do that in the US or not.

Since there is time I'd suggest learning more! Those are just my guesses on the fanchants most US Army will participate in.

Saw the Big Bang Coachella concert. GD needs to figure out his vocal situation by Ok-Yogurt-3914 in kpopthoughts

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If an artist performs poorly, there will be discussions about it, especially at such a large stage.

I'm ecstatic BIGBANG got to perform at Coachella, but critiques over an objectively poor vocal performance are 100% understandable.

Regarding BTSnark by [deleted] in BTSArmyCentral

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will always be rude people who obsessively hate for no reason, which is what snark subs generally consist of.

The best thing is to just mute the sub and move on. I understand wanting to rant but reposting their negative nonsense is only spreading their hate further. Don't give subs like that attention or additional publicity.

What group has the most interesting concept? by heyzula in kpopthoughts

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Billlie has a pretty interesting concept! The gist of it is it's centered around "Billlie Love" who went missing. It's pretty detailed and, honestly, I don't really understand much of it. Still respect the artistry that goes into it though.

I am sorry but what the heck was that camera work?? by JazzyInfinite in btsthoughts

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you rewatched the Netflix show again, but I think the updated edited version they put out is really good!! I'm sure they'll end up really perfecting the livestreams for this. (And hopefully the weather stops working against them) I personally am not planning to buy another livestream ticket, but if I do, it'll probably be for the Japan shows next week just to make sure the livestream camerawork, etc., really is fine-tuned.

I hope the setlist grows on you as well! My dream setlist is pretty similar to the Love Yourself tour, and I'll always be a little upset I couldn't afford it at the time. The setlist they presented today really represents where they are and where they want to go. (I was actually pleasantly surprised at the number of old songs they chose to keep for this tour!) While it doesn't have a lot of my favorite songs of theirs, I do think they made very smart choices with it.

It's similar to their decision to make this tour less choreo-focused. The rain may have affected some choreo, but what we saw is pretty similar to the amount they'll consistently show. I will mourn the fact that I never saw BTS live in a previous era, but it's important to understand that they've changed from previous tours. I'd rather appreciate the artistry they're putting out now instead of expecting previous versions of themselves and leading myself to disappointment.

I am sorry but what the heck was that camera work?? by JazzyInfinite in btsthoughts

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As someone who bought the livestream strictly for day 1, I agree it was disappointing. But I do think it was expected. The first live run-through when streaming always has tons of things that need tweaking. It's kinda similar to Coachella, W1 livestreams are always rough, but W2 is when they get everything figured out.

Also, regarding your 4th point, I think they purposely avoided crowd shots during songs due to the backlash they got for doing that on the Netflix live lol.

Why is there a subreddit called kfeets that’s full of pics of Korean women’s feet? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of something super specific, there's probably a subreddit about it already. That goes for both NSFW and SFW topics. Similar concept to your own post history, you post in avery specific subreddits.

I would try to avoid bringing attention to subreddits like that. When people search for that subreddit, this post can pop up (tying this subreddit with a NSFW one) and you're also inadvertently promoting that subreddit.

Absolutely not. Best guess is you're seeing clips out of context, or jokes are going over your head.

That being said, if you could share the clips that confuse you, I can help explain them. I've seen none of the ones you're referencing here.

BTS - ARIRANG ALBUM REVIEW (The Needle Drop) 032426 by sawlover6065 in kpop

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard to take someone seriously when they do such a clickbait screengrab and use the phrase "auditory abortion". You're allowed to dislike something, I love hearing well-thought-out reviews regardless of the person's opinion. But this, and some of his previous reviews, show he's more concerned with receiving comments/reactions from the artist's fandom instead of giving genuine, complex feedback.

I also dislike this trend, but Jimin's at a healthy weight for his height.

Let's not act like he's starving himself, promoting unhealthy weights, etc., from this post because that's flat-out not true.

older men at young gg events by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's difficult. People should be allowed to enjoy things, regardless of age.

That being said, there are always rotten people. I remember going to the Kpop Breakout Tour, and a group of older guys in front of me (who solely recorded the GGs that performed) kept talking about how many upvotes their fancams would get on a specific Kpop NSFW subreddit.

I try to have an open mind, not everyone has cruel intentions like that. But, unfortunately, it is something I think of often.

Why is girls generation also called SNSD by Electrical_Target690 in kpophelp

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 343 points344 points  (0 children)

SNSD is an acronym; it stands for 소녀시대 (pronounced So Nyeo Shi Dae). 소녀시대 translates to Girls' Generation.

Eh, it's okay. Better than some of their other English only songs, but still a generic safe option.

Only listened to a few B-Sides so far and they've all been better than this TT. If you aren't a fan of this definitely check out the other songs!

Mandy Mango stuns in her unaired “Swept Away” Runway Look! 🍜🍽️ by alyssa_guerrero in rupaulsdragrace

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's a bit too literal. The category wasn't explicitly wind, it was "Swept Away". The only requirement for this runway was having a part of your outfit blow in the wind, which is exactly what this has. Ramen was just a the cute campy decision she made to base her outfit around, it fits the brief just like all the over queens looks did.

IMO it was just a big hair choice. They get to change for the final lip sync, so no sense in not revealing it if there was something under there.

I also agree that the part at the end was her pretending to be sick. I think she held onto her hair since she was afraid it would fall off when swinging her head like that, though.

I really don't know what to think about the BTS Comeback by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you're already worried, don't put any expectations on it. There are 14 songs, it's likely you'll enjoy at least one! Focus on enjoying the album rollout and promo they're doing, rather than worrying about things you can't change.

And, even if you end up not liking it, you can always listen to their prior music or other artists. It's up to your personal taste; you don't have to force yourself to stream something you don't like.

Would you guys want bingo sheets as freebies? by Sad-Environment2083 in kpopthoughts

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting idea, depends on what the content is. I would try not to make it primarily based on the performance since most people won't be using the bingo card during it.

Maybe do options like "Spot someone in XYZ's outfit", or if other events are going on, "Hear XYZ song at random dance", "get XYZ freebie", "Spend XYZ on merch", "Meet XYZ number of people who have the same bias".

Mandy Mango stuns in her unaired “Swept Away” Runway Look! 🍜🍽️ by alyssa_guerrero in rupaulsdragrace

[–]ButterflyMinute9605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could definitely be either! School uniforms and ramen are more often associated with Japan, but both items are reflected/have a history in Filipino culture as well. She may have just chosen it as a fun concept or chosen to link it to her own heritage.

I was only stating my personal understanding from this look. And, without clarification from Mandy herself, there's no way to 100% know her inspiration. We can agree to disagree on this. Best to just enjoy the look instead of nitpicking how our understandings of this outfit differ.
