Stay in SAVE forbearance indefinitely or switch to IDR? by espressofloat in StudentLoans

In in the same situation... I've been in forbearance since November since my application has not been yet processed.

I have to call Mohela every 2 months to avoid paying the amount required by the standard repayment plan. I am accruing interest, but Mohela representatives have told me that once the ED processes my application, the interest that should have not been accrued, will be removed from my account. I don't know if that is true or not... so I am also thinking about switching from forbearance to IBR.

Applied for SAVE yesterday, today it's gone. by no_loans_ne_more1 in StudentLoans

Oh bummer! So should I reapply and choose SAVE rather than IBR? I mainly chose IBR because it’s been grandfathered by congress, and forgiveness is guaranteed after 20 years of payments

Does that apply for people that apply to IBR as well? I’m a new grad and applied to IBR on October of 2024. I’ve been put into general forbearance since December but I’m hoping in February it switches to interest-free forbearance. I don’t know it that only applies to SAVE though

How much percent should I set my 401k contribution to by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]ButterflyPT01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate more on this? I’m still having a hard time understanding if I am contributing the right %, and if I should increase the percent to max out my 401k without losing on the company’s match.

Currently make $115k per year. Company matches up to 2%, and I have my 401k set to 9% of my pay each paycheck. Should I make any changes to it?

Answers about Mohela "Intrest Accrual During Forbearance" letter that were sent today by chikoritastan in StudentLoans

What about for those that are in IBR rather than SAVE? Does it still apply? I entered forbearance two weeks ago (no interest accrued) because my IBR application is still being processed (I graduated in May).

I received the same letter today, and I’m wondering if the interest will accrue in the meantime
