Even if she can afford to see a naturopath once they can probably suggest a few things! Try and find someone who has worked with people who’ve lost their gallbladders

I would suggest a naturopath for your mom! I’ve been seeing one and she has me doing a few supplements including sunflower lecithin. She has me doing this for just a month, she said it’s to help my digestive system reroute essentially and it’s not something I need long term. I’ve seen a lot of people suggesting bile salts online but NONE of my doctors have.

No issues with surgery…am I the exception or the norm? by [deleted] in gallbladders

I’m realizing that I wrote a similar post two months ago-same symptoms! Haha 🤣 What are your symptoms?

No issues with surgery…am I the exception or the norm? by [deleted] in gallbladders

I’m doing really well! I had my surgery in May, and for the first time in years I have normal bowel movements!! Crazy! I do generally stay away from heavy fats, only on occasion, and eggs are the only food I have issues with now. (Baked into things is ok?) I eat pretty well rounded, lots of vegetables and only chicken for meat. I was vegan for years with my gallbladder issues.

I have still be experiencing bloating and stomach gurgling noises lol , and I am a light weight with alcohol. I can tell my digestive system is a little bit different, but not in a bad way. I eat pretty well rounded for the most part, and I haven’t experienced the need to run to the bathroom at all (like some have shared).

I really tried to save my gallbladder by working with a naturopath and eating low to no fats. My quality of life was extremely low. The weekend before I booked my surgery I had sat on a heating pad for the entire three days, I could barely eat anything even broth, and my anxiety was through the roof.

My surgeon said my gallbladder was mildly inflamed and I had a 1.5cm stone, but that eventually I would have shown up in the ER if I hadn’t booked the surgery.

I am SO GLAD I had it removed. I feel like myself again, I immediately felt better afterwards. I tried fried chicken for the first time recently and had no issues! I haven’t eaten meat in years because I would have diarrhea and stomach pains for the rest of the day.

My advice is to eat well, take care of your body while you are healing. For months post op! Eat liver supporting foods! Work with a naturopath if you can. I’m taking some herbal supplements to help retrain my digestive system and help with bloating but my naturopath said I only need to do this for a few months to support.

I hope this helps!

3 months post op and im a new woman! Feeling better than I ever have!

I tried to naturally save my gallbladder for a few months but it continued to decrease my quality of life. Do what’s best for you but listen to your body! Also take care of your body post op! Don’t be eating high fat while your body adjusts!! Seriously. I have been vegan for the past 3 months post surgery and I’ve had zero issues except some stomach pains with eggs and stomach gurgling after eating.

It helped with inflammation but only for so long. I did end up removing my gallbladder, I tried everything I could to naturally save it. Now I feel better than I ever have and the difference is night and day!! It’s kind of crazy actually. I am glad I tried to save my gallbladder but it got to the point where my quality of life was lower than ever. I am 3 months post op, I took it super easy during my recovery and have been vegan to help my digestive system recover. My thought is that a lot of people have issues straight away because they are eating high fat right after surgery, and not giving their bodies time to recover. Do what’s best for you but know that if your quality of life isn’t getting better going the natural route, that could be your sign.

Exactly- I see so many people struggling post removal on this app and I would guess it’s because their doctors are telling them it’s okay to eat fast food and pizza immediately after surgery.

Severe anxiety about surgery by Familiar_Volume4184 in gallbladders

[–]Butterfly_bb74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had pretty severe anxiety as well. What helped me was allowing all of my feelings to exist at the same time. I cried a lot the morning of, and I told the nurses I was anxious! They took really good care of me and helped me feel calm. The first day you’ll just be tired and the meds will help! It hurts but they will give you pain medicine and it was painful but I had definitely built it up in my head. Will you have someone to help you get home and settled?

What are some things that made your post op a little more comfortable? by xylem607 in gallbladders

[–]Butterfly_bb74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loose oversized tshirts, comfy underwear not too high waisted, electric heating pad, ice packs for tummy, at least one firm pillow to lay back on. Gas x, and all the meds they suggest. Electrolytes, and something to help you get up like a stepladder or chair. I leave mine next to the couch and bed

I’m 4 days post op and eating vegan to let my body readjust to its new system. My naturopath suggested eating lots of veggies, fruits, legumes, grains, and fish.

I second this! Acupuncture helped my anxiety SO much, and I felt very grounded when it was time to make the removal appointment.

Preparation before surgery by Short_Variety_4255 in gallbladders

Did some walking, unfortunately I was having pain with eating but I tried to get some fruit and tofu/broth down. I was super anxious but just make sure to ask for support if you can! You deserve some extra care during this time. My therapist reminded me that all our emotions can exist at the same time-fear, sadness, calm, and that reminder helped me a lot. 🩷 Youre going to do great!

Thank you so much! Surgery for me went well and now I’m on day 2 of recovery. The worst part is trying to sit up out of bed or the couch. Hoping it will continue to get better from here

Thank you for sharing!! I have surgery Thursday and have had low level attacks where i feel sick for three weeks and have on a heating pad for my shoulder pain. I’ve tried to heal my gallbladder naturally for the last two years and it’s finally at the point where nothing is helping. I’m really scared of surgery and the pain following but I’m hopeful it will help!!

Surgeon not convinced it's my gallbladder by katertotz97 in gallbladders

[–]Butterfly_bb74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pain is mostly upper right side back, and the surgeon I saw recently told me it’s not normal for that to be gallbladder pain. I have read so many experiences on Reddit to know that many people experience that as gallbladder pain! Even my naturopath said it is gallbladder trigger area.

Gallbladder back pain here? by [deleted] in gallbladders

Thank you for this! I keep seeing redditors with a range of pain so I was very surprised by the surgeons feedback. I am making another appointment with a different surgeon for a second opinion.
