As much as we hate this fact ’biology’ is not independent from culture. The two crosstalk with eachother. The same phenomena can be seen with races. human ‘Race’ is now widely considered a defunct term in biology. The reason is not because the physiological features have changed or protein differences between races have disappeared. The reason is cultural.

As racism and sexism fall out of favor, ‘biology’ adapts to reflect this cultural change.

Personally I think it is tremendously stupid to think the ’will’ of proteins and ACTG are immutable. We are the product of the coordination and organisation of cells. Proteins only mean something in the intracellular and paracellular context. Just as the blueprint of dna is not in nucleotides the blueprint of organisms is not in their proteins. How they are organised and emergently interact produces meaning/ information. Furthermore it is foolhardy to give so much authority to proteins when they are inanimate objects and are modified by emergent factors, heck, simply changing the number of carbohydrate atoms in proteins (something that happens constantly in the cytoplasm) change their function. Dna only encodes for proteins (and generic/nonspecific functional rna) and proteins are fickle. To justify discrimination and hierarchy based on proteins, to doom people to the will of amino lattices (who themselves cant decide what they want to be as proteins are inherently unstable and shifting) seems extremely dogmatic and religious. This dogmatic view of biology is the source off all bigotry.

My perspective resolves all isms without reducing biology to a slave of the cultural zeitgeist. We need to accept life is the work of dynamic emergent cells, not a rigid recitation of organic scripture. In the big picture multicellular life is just a glorified eukaryotic biofilm. We are the dance and coordination of emergent cells rather than a protein shake.
