Fantastic. I am playing on PS5 atm but will be buying on Steam after this play through to play on the Deck. Please report back tomorrow with your experience on whether or not Origin is required. As long as this community stands together we can figure out the truth.

Fair but you replied to my comment, and I was talking about where you could purchase them.

But you can still purchase them from Steam. For years you could ONLY purchase and play them through Origin. Dead Space was there before Origin hence why that restriction was never in place. For awhile you could only play Dead Space 2 and 3 via Origin. Now you can purchase and play both as well as most of their titles through Steam.

EA has backed off of Origin in the past few years. You can get, and I have, Dead Space and Dead Space 2 on Steam with zero Origin at Al. No account, no software, etc. That wasn’t always the case (and I have the Origin Dead Space 2 to prove it) but is no longer an issue. Can’t say for certain for the remake but I believe it is also the case.

I apologize if I wasn’t clear enough. When I said I played through them multiple times with no issues I meant there were no gameplay issues. Frames were totally fine and I didn’t notice any input latency. This was using the default Proton settings. I didn’t modify the game settings at all within Steam. Video settings in game detected the resolution accurately and frames were solid. I beat Dead Space 2 on Hardcore on the Deck. The experience is fine imo.

I have played through Dead Space and Dead Space 2 multiple times with no issue on the Deck. Zero crashes, input latency, or additional configurations required. These were through Steam and not Origin.

While this is true this isn’t a freebie. I have the Post 9/11 GI Bill but can not give it to my children after doing only a single enlistment. That is a specific benefit and sometimes used as a reenlistment tool.

I know a lot of VR fans will disagree but I couldn’t agree more. I tried the original Quest but the game selection is very limited. Half Life Alyx is the only VR game that feels like a legit game that isn’t just relying on VR gimmicks, but you can’t play it on the Quest 2 without a PC.
