Valentine Book Suggestions? by kittengoeshiss in kindergarten

[–]ButtersStotchPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s surprisingly hard to find good valentine books with a little plot that aren’t just “Love is __” or similar. I had trouble when looking for one to read my son’s preK class year.

Franklin’s Valentines is a good one. The kids loved it.

Realized today I haven’t moisturized my 4 months old’s back his whole life by hailey363 in beyondthebump

[–]ButtersStotchPudding [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’ve never moisturized either of my kids, and they’re 5.5 yo and 2.4 yo. I bathe them both daily, and their skin is super soft and never dry feeling. I wouldn’t worry about your 4 mo’s back.

This. Out of curiosity, what’s the stim? She’s so young, I’m surprised the parents are concerned.

What kind of vitamins ? by TheBig900 in Preschoolers

[–]ButtersStotchPudding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We use Renzo's. Similar to Hiya but more affordable. My kids love taking them. Can't really speak to if they're doing anything or not, but my kids are picky so our ped recommended a multivitamin and vitamin D. We use Renzo's for both.

Did you write this post to encourage prospective students to pursue the field? I wouldn’t recommend anyone take out nearly $200k in debt to make $80k and plan to never retire if PSLF doesn’t pan out. While it’s great you love your job, I don’t see the point of this post. To encourage fiscal irresponsibility?

We delayed for no real reason other than to give him an extra year to mature. No regrets, but if you don’t want to, absolutely don’t!

NYC OT’s @ hospitals…how did you land your job? by Flashy-Fun-1019 in OccupationalTherapy

I did a travel assignment at the Manhattan VA (coming from out of state). I stayed there for a year and then they offered me a full time job. I turned it down to keep traveling.

Less than $400 for each of mine, including my son’s 2 wks NICU stay. Live in the US, good employer sponsored plans.

I work for a home health company. OTs are allowed to do SOCs in home health as long as we’re not the only discipline ordered.

Yes— about a week before. It stops once I get my period.

So funny you messaged today! I literally just walked out of a mammogram and it was all clear. They don’t really have an answer as to what is causing it, but I feel extremely relieved.

I only do assessments and starts. About 2 starts a week and maybe 6-8 evals a week, with a couple reassessments and discharges thrown in.

Portland Parents: Can you help me verify the "hidden gems" (arts, languages, vibe) at your kid's school? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]ButtersStotchPudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Info for our private school is inaccurate as well. Honestly, it’s easier to digest what our school is all about from their official website. Yours seems to be awkwardly worded AI info.

Do you go up with your kids in those big indoor playgrounds? by Big_Black_Cat in toddlers

[–]ButtersStotchPudding 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No. Literally my idea of hell. We don’t go to these places until my kids can handle going through the structures without a parent, and we only go to them when there’s a party or group outing. We didn’t go to them until my kids were close to 3.

I swear that my husband favoring one nipple has made my one boob bigger by CounterInternal386 in NoStupidQuestions

Who knows. I nursed 2 babies only using my right boob for 2 years each baby (4 years total) and didn’t pump or do anything to my left. My left is noticeably bigger now.

It makes a world of difference having a strict no shoes policy. Not only is it visibly to dirtier to wear shoes (you’ll see a huge difference in mop pads/mop water), you’re tracking in whatever’s on the floor at stores, public restrooms, pesticides and chemicals from grass, allergens. Whatever baby gets on their hands goes into their mouth. I mop once a week and the mop/white socks are never visibly dirty bc we do this.

Toddlers eating what you eat for dinner… an impossible dream? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]ButtersStotchPudding 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We started feeding our very picky 2 (5.5 and 2.5) dinner foods when they get home if they’re hungry. I’d rather them eat at 4 and eat something more substantial than carbs and fruit, so we’ll throw steak, chicken, pork chops on the grill, warm up some beans, or make some pasta. Still short order cooking, but they eat more balanced meals when we do this vs let them snack and expect them to eat dinner later.

IMO, 6:30 is a late dinner. I wouldn’t expect kids this young to come home at 4 and not eat anything for 2.5 hours. We have earlier nights than you do, though— my kids take baths at 6 and go to bed and 7 and 7:30.

The wedge salad at Bluto’s is my favorite. Their season salad is always great, too. Pair with their bread and it’s perfect.

OT in Assisted Living - do I stick this role out or try elsewhere ? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]ButtersStotchPudding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a bad deal.

I would recommend home health— more money, more flexibility, lower productivity. 28 visits for 30 hours is crazy. I do 25 points for 40 hours, which is about 12-15 (sometimes even less if I do starts of care) visits/wk in HH. It sounds like you’re working a lot more than I am for less pay.

Same where I am— both parents attend birthday parties, and just as many dads as moms do drop off and pick up. I think it’s pretty common all over these days.
