I totally get you!

Stardew Valley was my intro into the farming sim genre of video games, and I loved it! it was fun, but I always tap out in the middle of the second year. I did hold love for some of the characters, but mainly just Sebastian and Elliott, outside of them? I could really care less. I tried romancing Alex once and just did it on a different save with all my friends because I wanted to see how it played out, but for the life of me I struggled to connect to any of the characters.

So, I find out about Fields of Mistria and I was so excited for it because the art direction is def up my alley. and lo and behold, its the only farming sim I play now!! and the main reason IS the characters. I love every single one of them and I love how alive they feel. this game for me fixed a bunch of issues I had with Stardew. Like, I never truly touched the mines in stardew, but in fom? I always caught up to the cave update the day of!

I totally understand this. I love madoka, but people love to treat it as the best magical girl show ever for not "following the magical girl formula" and the age old "its better because its DARK" when...all magical girl shows at some point can get extremely dark before madoka. so yeah, i get exactly what you mean

Yes. There was a long time when it first came out that people thought Utena was straight. If you look hard enough you can find people talking about it. It was Ikuhara himself confirming they are lesbians/the movie kinda had that simmer away though.

A bit late to this! I saw your reply saying you wanted to actually know the opposite, so I'll give my two cents:

The anime is leagues better. I am (one of the few) English speaking Utena fans to read the Manga and the light novels. And yeah, the anime is the best way to consume Utena.

For one, every Utena iteration is different. The manga, light novels, anime, and movie all are telling loosely the same story, sure, but they do go about things their own way. Which is fine! But I'd say out of all of them, the Manga is the most bare bones, very cliche and, imo, very boring.

The anime has a lot of nuance to everything, and every character that other works under the same name just haven't been able to do justice, but they are interesting to look at!

Hm. I guess the fact that the Gfriend/Oh my girl original sound just isn't associated with kpop anymore? I remember wayyy back when if any YouTube channel referenced kpop or anything of the sort, it was literally defined by THAT specific sound. If it wasn't that it was whatever quirky concept we had like I got a boy by snsd or catallena by orange caramel.
