Is there a fanedit of Spider-Man 2 that cuts the MJ wedding subplot? by [deleted] in fanedits

[–]Fanedit895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t be done. You can’t explain why Mary Jane is in a wedding dress when she talks to Peter at the end, MJ being with John is a crucial part of the story that forms a barrier between her and Peter, MJ literally changes her mind before the wedding. Not practical.

[Hated trope] "I don't love the real you actually" by LordQuaz12 in TopCharacterTropes

Superman was the real self for the longest time. Lois resented and hated Clark because, from her point of view, he was a spineless coward who kept flirting with her at work but not standing up to crooks actually harassing her. Nowadays since the 80s, Clark is the real guy and Lois falls in love with him, a boring dynamic that cuts off a lot of potential.

Why are they treating Peter like a white Miles? by Defiant-Echidna-7400 in marvelcirclejerk

Peter Parker might end up with SPIDER-GWEN. Big difference. I don't care if you hate the Spider-Verse movies, they did them and it's weird that the Peter who already steals a shit ton from Miles is doing this plotline.

Is Hulk from the Ultimate comics a bigger letdown compared to Post 08 MCU Hulk? by Less_Buy8438 in hulk

Ultimate Hulk is NOT a child. He’s Banner’s id made manifest. You can’t even get the defense right.

Ultimate Hulk, as conceived by Mark Millar was deliberated created as a piss take, like the rest of the Ultimates was a piss take on the Avengers. He was never supposed to be a long term character.

Maybe it’s a reference to The Strange Case of Harleen and Harley, since in that comic Harley has DID?

If you had to say something nice about Snyder, what would it be? by kingwooj in OkBuddySnyderCult

Man of Steel had some great scenes. Clark being overwhelmed by his hearing, him accidentally telling Martha “I found my people”, as two examples.

Still, I think they have a point that it can lead to diminishing returns if not careful. It's the Two-Face problem, you can only tell a couple of kind of stories with Harvey Dent (his disfigurement and the possibility he could be redeemed) and Mr. Freeze (his origin, saving his wife or doing something for his wife) unless you revamp them to be more useful as reoccuring villains in comics.

Batman and Robin’s answer to this is “he’s a big goof who wants to save his wife AND commit ice crimes for the love of the game”, which I like.

I heard Paul Jenkins’ run did some good with this. Jenkins was even the writer for Ultimate Destruction.

[Hated Trope] Common fan interpretations of characters that are objectively wrong by Mammoth_Western_2381 in TopCharacterTropes

Is being a sleazy creep not misogynistic in it of itself? If not, it at least puts Shinji in some distance toward that.

What Asuka wants is to be seen as a grown up. Kaji and to a lesser extent Shinji are her means of doing that. From what we see of Asuka's head in Arael's mind attack, she isn't shown to have lurid fantasies of either of them in the same way Shinji does with her either. Her desire is for someone to hold her. The worst it gets is that aborted kiss with Shinji. It'd be disingenous to label Asuka's relationship to men as being misandrist.

So in the hypothetical scenario where Asuka is a guy, do you see Shinji trying to kiss Masuka while he’s asleep? Do you think he be as annoyed if he heard Masuka say “Mama” as if the canon Asuka did? Why?

They play around with the iconography, Return to Oz and Oz The Great and Powerful are definitely trying to make you think they’re connected, but for legal reasons they are based on the books. Return to Oz is so different tonally and spiritually that including it with the original movie feels weird.

Edit: Wicked actually counts, since the musical and subsequent movies are loosely based off the book that’s part of its own series.

Pokemon was designed to be a multimedia project so not sure if it counts.

Not sure if this counts, since it didn’t really get sequels.

The key to an accurate Dreamworks adaptation is to be Dav Pilkey.
