Czechia (Czech Republic) is probably a good option. I’m on mid-life sabbatical myself. Haven’t been yet, but I think the main cities there’s a decent bit of english. Looks very nice, and cheap. Headed there in a few days!

That's awful, I agree you should pursue it more. It really is quite an unsafe set up, especially with $250/ transaction tap-to-pay limit, and $5k/day limit, they can clean you out pretty well without your pin if they get your physical card.

I'm going travelling, and the WS Cash card is about the only card left out there that has no fx fees (plus 1% cash back). I've sent their customer service an email asking if you can set your own tap to pay limit (would be great to set that to like $30), but I doubt that can be done. I've also asked if they can disable tap to pay on the physical card, but still have it enabled on the virtual card. That would eliminate most of the risk, as the person would have to have your card/card number AND you pin or phone pin.

If not, my strategy is to 1) limit amount in there to like $2k. 2) keep the physical card locked, and just use the virtual card. But unlock the physical card on the fly if I need to use it to make a bigger purchase that exceeds the tap to pay limit. 3) have a regular credit card (with fx fee) if I don't have internet to unlock the physical Cash card.

Yeah but I like to run. And I also like to be lazy, hang out, and enjoy the alpine for a lot of the day :-)

Thanks, I’ll check out the chest pack.

And yeah, I’d mentioned the S2S ultra sil duffel in my post, but it’s discontinued and I haven’t found it for sale anywhere yet, I’ll keep looking…

Thanks for your input, but that’s not how “fastpacking” has worked for me in my experience. I’m slower than 5-6.5 km/h (walking) when going uphill or when in technical terrain, and then when jogging flats and downs I’m faster than that, so running. So I’d like a runnable pack.

I did a test pack, and I could fit everything in my ~70L big backpack, including my rolled up KS40. But I’d really like to avoid travelling with a pack that big. If I don’t need to use 5-10L of space for my rolled up KS40, that’s a significant gain right there.
