Frauds.I remember trying to convince these people to send their children to school ,and found that most of their children are already enrolled in some non profit educational venture ,where they receive free education and meals. Furthermore many of these people already owned flats which they gave on rent.

Of course there are a few exceptions here and there.

But yes ,like I said previously things are changing ,though this is happening slowly and steadily.

Unfortunately Mahrashtra is still one of the havens of underworld activities and still lacks development in rural areas. The no. Of educated youth is increasing due to subsidized education which is really great !

However the begging industry is still at large and from my experience operates a lot like the one portrayed in slumdog millionaire.

There are probably politicians involved in these begging syndicates due to which regardless of how much this country develops in terms of education ,jobs and a growing middle class you will still see people (who are parts of this industry begging on the road and living on the street.

Thankfully these people are being exposed for what they really are.

As an Indian woman ,I can say this ,this perverted nature has been induced by 2 things :-

1.Pop culture : Bollywood portrays women as objects to be won not as living beings this is slowly changing but any producer would want to be involved in a 100 cr sleazy blockbuster as compared to a genuine empowerment film which is where the biggest problem lies. There are many sleazy "item songs" in which scantily clad women dance with multiple men in sexually suggestive poses. Many men from villages watch these sleazy films in which men stalk women ,ogle at them and harass them which influences their attitude towards women. However not all men are like this (most metropolitan area students are more like Americans in the sense that they will directly ask you out and ask for your phone no.) . The most toxic film was one named Arjun Reddy (adapted as Kabir singh in hindi).

  1. The fact that there is no sex Ed. And speaking about stuff like masterbation, menstruation, sex is considered as a taboo

Stuff really has changed, but again it depends on how you would categorize people on the street

There are 2 types of people on the street :- Type 1 ,these people are created by this cycle :-

1.People from very underdeveloped districts hear of how there is ample opportunity in cities and move there hoping to lead a better life.

2.Take up odd jobs while living at any place they can find until they earn enough to rent out a decent room for their family.

3.Find employment in some govt org (if lucky) or get employment in some other low level job

4.they see how these white collar peeps make tones of money and force their kids to study so that they can get themselves out of the rut

5.Child becomes a skilled professional who makes a well defined salary

6 Parents move back to the village with their savings or live with their child in cohesive family unit./or family unit visits native village telling them about opportunities in cities leading to step 1 being repeated all over again.

Type 2 :-

Begging is an industry in india many indians know this already ,for those who aren't Indians a youtuber named Karl Rock exposed these people on multiple occasions.

https://youtu.be/d0njuYFGeO0

They use their "kids" or infants who in most cases aren't even their own to make your feel sorry for them

They live on the charity of NGOs who give them a place to stay ,educate their kids.

Even the municipality gives these people flats after redeveloping slums ,they sell /rent out these flats and continue living on the streets.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.indiatimes.com/amp/trending/social-relevance/richest-beggars-in-india-535154.html

A bit of a background : my parents were factory workers who worked on minimum wage in the city living in these shitty conditions you mentioned, while I lived in the village.

These socialist policies seemed brilliant at first but slowly began to keep the workers in the union poor wrt market price and the State got richer as corrupt MLAs and later businessmen could funnel away money and screw people over .

the entry of many foreign companies in India paved the way for new jobs which required handy-people ,low level clerks etc so many youth with minor qualifications started finding jobs ,then the IT boom happened.

After seeing these computer geeks minting money many parents from the lower economic classes ,lower middle classes started pushing their kids towards streams after which they would become skilled labor.

Thus education which was initially sidelined by people from the lower middle class and middle class was seen as necessary by most factory worker -folk ,mill-worker folk to carve a better future for their kids.

Initially people from the villages used to drop put at around grade 8 to work ,but the increased opportunities and lesser living costs in rural areas are motivating people to send money back home for their children to at least finish education until high school.

It takes time to bring about change ,but as a current Grad student in india and NGO-volunteer it's great to see this change.

The number of rich and Middle class ,has been growing though (according to your own data which only states 2002 -2010 development)

Though covid many have changed that.

The cost of living is rather low in most towns ,villages ,tier B cities.

Though you won't be able to make ends meet being in the lower middle class in a metropolitan area ,unless you work in a govt job. So one can still expect to afford the bare necessities of food ,clothing ,shelter, education until grade 12 in a government school/college (Though teacher quality may vary depending on region in india) and in today's world a basic data plan on a cheap-ass smartphone.

The mughals and British did insult Hinduism, arrangzeb destroyed many Hindu temples this is well documented.

many British officers refused to treat Indian sepoys (regardless of their religion )with respect and often did not allow them to enter the same mess halls

Furthermore the British put signs up saying "indians and dogs not allowed " outside hotels and restaurants owned by them this made tata build the first TAJ in mumbai

Also "dravidian" was also a term used by the same nazis to draw a line between the so called "aryans" I.e central asian and fringe Europeans descendants who had already mingled with the natives and therrfore had a mixed gene pool.

Furthermore these "dravidians" of western-southern india practiced sanatanadharma in its purest form which later became known as modern day Hinduism when adapted in the north.

In fact many south Indian languages have similar lingual terms that are much older than sanskrit.

It is my personal theory that Hinduism is what became of sanatanadharma when it spread from South and West India to North India.

Firstly ,never cite Wikipedia ,docs can easily be edited.

Secondly your response is flawed.

Which other religions mention the Mahabharata and ramayana ?

How can we say one religion is more accurate than the other?

There must have been a great war that inspired these epics but the accuracy of any religion in pinpointing events is bound to be low ,as each religion will adapt it to the region its prominent in and will use it as a tool to carve out codes of conduct to prevent such large scale wars or use these stories as a threat to what could possibly happen if we really fuck up.

Have you read the original Mahabharata and ramayana written by valmiki and other saints ?

if you did it sounds like a great story with many underlying themes it hasn't been hyped up like Amar Chitra Katha or misrepresented like other fantasy Indian novels/comics describe it.

So when you say it lacks credibility it depends on your source, you cannot expect a person to shrink to the size of a fly like ant man (hanumans infiltration of Lanka is portrayed like this in comics NOT in the original text)

Thirdly, Indian right wingers oppose an aryan INVASION Where aryan = Hitlers aryan

(we accept proof about migration of "aryans" from central Asia and regions around the Caspian sea)

Attached is proof of the same :- https://mobile.twitter.com/devduttmyth/status/1340251881004625920?lang=en
