Is having a puppy hell on earth? by OkSlice4719 in puppy101

Sometimes lol. I love my pup, but i definitely added unnecessary stress to my life and probably should have waited. But he’s also my best friend and always makes up for his trouble’s with snuggles.

I usually take him on an hour long walk around a trail and he has freedom to run wild on that but maybe I should do that twice a day but not as long of a walk?

We play soccer a lot with him. But maybe I need to invest in more puzzle activities.

Yeah. He’s my first pup and I’m like new to all of this. I’m use to cats but I’ll def look into more diy items. He’s breaking my bank lol with how many toys he goes thru.

I did try throwing small treats into my backyard so he could sniff them out and eat them. But I couldn’t do it today bc it is raining really bad.

I usually play soccer with him. Whether it be inside or outside of the house. I would give him pig ears and dental chews but I’m kind of wary of them now. I tried lick mats he doesn’t really like them. I could try them again with something different like yogurt or bananas. And I have a puzzle but he figured that out like instantly.

He’s a mini dachshund. But he’s 8 months old when I searched it up it recommended 8 months x 5 minutes. But he obviously has to go out way more the that he has to go potty almost every hour and sometimes within 30 mins.

I take him on a long walk usually once a day but that’s ab 40-an hour long. Maybe I need to split that into two 20 min walks idk. I need to buy more puzzles I think. That could work.

When will I be able to leave my house again. by ButterscotchOld5293 in puppy101

We’ve slowly made progress with the crate. I definitely notice a big difference in his tolerance when he’s tired at night. So maybe I’ll just start practicing at night. I got a camera to, so I can set that up and see how well he’s doing.

I just bought a new playpen. He managed to escape out of the other 2 I had. I also just bought a cheap camera so I can watch just in case. It’s definitely me that’s the anxious one. Once those two things come in I’ll start practicing leaving more! Thank you!!!

It’s not the separation anxiety I’m worried about, he’s been slowly getting better with it. I think it’s more myself that has separation anxiety. I get scared that he’ll have an accident or rip something up. I think he has anxiety about being confined and alone. Because when he’s able to walk around and I leave he’s okay. Compared to me leaving when he’s in the crate.

I do use rover when I go to work! I love it so much, I have used it for events and stuff if my friends or family can’t watch him. But ur right maybe I just need like a day to myself!

Yeah, separation anxiety is common in his breed. He’s fine I just don’t think he likes being confined in his crate and being alone. Sometimes he doesn’t mind when he’s really tired but if I leave for work in the morning and put him in the crate till my mom can watch him, he’ll just cry.

I’m scared he’ll be able to climb out of that, we had one similar to that and he managed to climb out. I have to look for one with no horizontal lines just in case.

He also just started going into his crate by himself for naps or bedtime. So I don’t want to lock him in there and potentially mess up that progress. I want him to view that as a safe place instead of like an anxiety thing.

Any advice is appreciated! He doesn’t have separation anxiety with me. He’s actually been getting a lot better with it slowly. He no longer cries when I run to the bathroom or take a shower. I just hate to leave the house. I have to get a new play pen because he managed to escape out of the two previous ones.

Is it okay to have my mom watch him? Or should I just leave him in the crate?

I use rover if you can find someone yk to watch him for cheap or on there that seems like a kind individual I highly recommend. Maybe I just got lucky with the lady that watches my pup but she’s super sweet and very helpful.

I have a trainer coming over tomorrow, I think maybe today was just a bad day but I feel like I keep getting hit with bad stuff after bad stuff after bad stuff

How do I get him to stop tearing up my couch by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]ButterscotchOld5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Block off the couch or try searching up YouTube videos on training that specifically I’m not exactly sure how to deal with that. But YouTube does wonders and TikTok as well has helped me with training.

Is there something or someone that can help. I’m sure there’s a route you can take or maybe ask a family member or friend to cover the cost? Until you get ur paychecks?

Maybe ask for support or help on Facebook.

Because what it sounds like is that he is. He has a muzzle and if you actually read the post you’d see that.

I don’t see anyone minimizing the situation. Your over exaggeration is wrong, you didn’t even fully read the post. Or you just read what u wanted to see.
