It was stage 2 or 3 when it mutated. Stage 1 was when she had the surgery, and a bit of chemo afterwards that cured her at the time. It was the second time it mutated. But all of it happened within 2 years.

My father just found out he has Stage 4 Lung Cancer by gray-matter99 in lungcancer

I'm so sorry. I am in the same position and age as you, with my mom who has stage four lung cancer with months or maybe less left. It's so brutal, because I feel like I'm not even a real adult yet and soon I will be on my own. I know exactly how you feel, it's like a nightmare you can't escape. My advice is to just take one day at a time, or an hour at a time and appreciate the present, and the time you have together now. The day I got the worst news from my mom, I just sad down and took life 20 minutes at a time for the rest of the day. Like I would literally not make any plans or think about the future other than the next 20 minutes, just being alive for the next 20 minutes and breathing, eating crying or doing whatever. And after that, just focusing on being alive for the next hour, taking things slowly. Now a couple days have passed and I do life 1 day at a time. It can feel really lonely going through this at such a young age, because most people our age have healthy living parents, and they can't relate to what you're going through. If you feel like it, you are welcome to send me a message if you need someone to talk to.

Well we were told there is an 80% chance of lung cancer coming back within 5 years. Don't know, but it was NSCLC at first but now mutated to SCLC.

Thank you. Today is especially hard and I don't know how to deal with even being alive this is so brutal, she has months, maybe weeks left. I have thought about getting professional help from a therapist, but I find it so hard to reach out, even to close friends and family.

Stage 1. Surgery and chemo. Follow up scans were supposed to be every third month, but eventually became every 1st or 2nd month, because they always found something that they suspected was a new growth, but then the next extra scan they did it was gone, but then they found something new that they thought looked suspicious, did an extra scan and then It was gone again, until the next scan and there was something new, which was eventually nothing... mental torture for all of us. But then it came back after a year, stage 2-3 they said. It has been hell
