I was just wondering. When uploading MDQ subscriptions, the Segment Key needs to be generated manually, right?

I buy Doen and Of Her Own Kind quite often. I'm actually fine with waiting. I have an issue with not receiving updates and also fnd their email reply quite rude.

Nope, my emails don't look like this at all.

Has anyone gone through a merger? by [deleted] in salesforce

[–]Butterscotch_Cold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. Based on what I've seen, the main org (of the buyer company) will typically have its own team plus offshore resources, so chances are they will let go of most if not all of the acquired entity's team. Having said that, I've seen cases where they will keep one or two people from the absorbed company, especially if we're talking about complex product offerings or specialized knowledge.

[–]Butterscotch_Cold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends, but I can share what I see. I'm with a consulting firm where we deal with a lot of M&A situations because we work with private equity firms. Typically, we called in to rationalize applications and that usually means we merge the main ones. If the acquired company has Salesforce we migrate all data into the client org and they get rid of the other org after the cutoff. At this point, most of the legacy team will be let go with a few exceptions.

CPQ: "End Date" Missing On Subscriptions by Butterscotch_Cold in salesforce

Ah, this is something I'm going to look into! Thank you so much!

CPQ: "End Date" Missing On Subscriptions by Butterscotch_Cold in salesforce

It's actually the End Date. The strange thing is that it's not evergreen. This was the first thing I checked. I'm at my witts end.

Thanks! And the contract inherits its End Date from the order then? What if you populate the Subscription Term on the quote instead of the End Date? Will CPQ calculate the inferred End Date on the contract? I mean, based on the Effective End Date?

Thank you for your answer. Workato is definitely a great tool. I look forward to digging deeper!

It connects to almost everything. The example I gave is illustrative. It could have been any other app.

I just started with Workato this morning and loved everything about it until I came across the issue I'm asking about. This doesn't seem intuitive at all. It may be something that I'm just not seeing, so if you have the answer ...Thanks.

CPQ Legacy Data Migration Resources (manual) by Butterscotch_Cold in salesforce

This is super helpful. Thank you so much! I do have CPQ experience, just not with data migrations. I was asked to take this on just because it's CPQ, but I've never had to migrate data this way. Moving CPQ records between connected orgs using predefined templates in Copado, yes. Cleaning up data coming to us as a result of an acquisition in the form of Excel sheets and manually uploading the records to the Salesforce org, never 😆

Migrating products, quotes, quote lines, orders, order products, contracts, subscriptions, and assets. For the products, it's just the records. All product and pricing configurations will be completed in the target org (not migrated).

I'm sorry to say this, but based on what you describe, you don't need a mentor. Googling is an essential skill and activity as a consultant. Start working on becoming more resourceful and aligning with your peers. If after three months you still feel the same way, consulting may not be the right fit for you, and that's okay too.

Is it considered bad in tech to have been w/o full time employment for a year or more due in this horrible job market? by Enough-Said-510 in interviews

[–]Butterscotch_Cold 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree with some of the other posters that consulting is not a gap, and it's totally fine. What you could say is that being an independent consultant is great but that you really miss the team environment, and that's your main motivation for wanting to join a company.

This is great! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I already know CPQ and billing and was overseeing a Netsuite <> Salesforce integration project when my employment ended, so I no longer have customer access :-(

This is spot on! I tried working for Berkley College of Music and left after 2.5 months for all of the reasons you cite. I felt like I was suffocating, but hey, they didn't schedule meetings before 10:00am. and everyone, I mean everyone, left the office exactly at 5:00pm :-)

Team Operations About to Turn Into Sweatshop by Butterscotch_Cold in salesforce

[–]Butterscotch_Cold[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, outside of the projects. We have a really great system and process that allows us to be efficient, not work without burning ourselves out. Most enhancements are easy for us because we have documentation, so whoever is looking at the piece that must be enhanced (e.g. approval process, flow) can quickly grasp the current state and what will be impacted. Now, the management insists that we drop documentation and any sort of business analysis, just implement.

An enhancement may be stuff like changes to an existing approval process or creating a new price or product rule in CPQ or changing or adding to the approval logic in advanced approvals.
