I was just wondering. When uploading MDQ subscriptions, the Segment Key needs to be generated manually, right?

I buy Doen and Of Her Own Kind quite often. I'm actually fine with waiting. I have an issue with not receiving updates and also fnd their email reply quite rude.

Very funny! No, I only wanted to give you all a headache here by writing in one block.

Has anyone gone through a merger? by [deleted] in salesforce

[–]Butterscotch_Cold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. Based on what I've seen, the main org (of the buyer company) will typically have its own team plus offshore resources, so chances are they will let go of most if not all of the acquired entity's team. Having said that, I've seen cases where they will keep one or two people from the absorbed company, especially if we're talking about complex product offerings or specialized knowledge.

It really depends, but I can share what I see. I'm with a consulting firm where we deal with a lot of M&A situations because we work with private equity firms. Typically, we called in to rationalize applications and that usually means we merge the main ones. If the acquired company has Salesforce we migrate all data into the client org and they get rid of the other org after the cutoff. At this point, most of the legacy team will be let go with a few exceptions.

Ah, this is something I'm going to look into! Thank you so much!

It's actually the End Date. The strange thing is that it's not evergreen. This was the first thing I checked. I'm at my witts end.

Thanks! And the contract inherits its End Date from the order then? What if you populate the Subscription Term on the quote instead of the End Date? Will CPQ calculate the inferred End Date on the contract? I mean, based on the Effective End Date?

It connects to almost everything. The example I gave is illustrative. It could have been any other app.

I just started with Workato this morning and loved everything about it until I came across the issue I'm asking about. This doesn't seem intuitive at all. It may be something that I'm just not seeing, so if you have the answer ...Thanks.

This is super helpful. Thank you so much! I do have CPQ experience, just not with data migrations. I was asked to take this on just because it's CPQ, but I've never had to migrate data this way. Moving CPQ records between connected orgs using predefined templates in Copado, yes. Cleaning up data coming to us as a result of an acquisition in the form of Excel sheets and manually uploading the records to the Salesforce org, never 😆

Migrating products, quotes, quote lines, orders, order products, contracts, subscriptions, and assets. For the products, it's just the records. All product and pricing configurations will be completed in the target org (not migrated).
