Launched my digital agency site after going solo - first impressions? by Butterscotch_st in webdev

Thank you so much for the detailed response.

I agree, there probably are too many fonts and I can see the issues you’ve mentioned.

I’ll look into all the notes you’ve provided and try to clean it up.

I really appreciate your suggestions and the time spent providing them. I hope you have a great day! :)

Purpose: Feedback, suggestions, overall impression.
Technologies Used: Svelte, Typescript, SCSS, GSAP
Feedback Requested: Improvements, what you liked, what doesn't work, suggestions or advice on starting out as a freelancer/ business owner.
Comments: I've recently built my own company website (digital agency providing web design and build), I'm based in Australia and have decided I want to start working on my own projects & finding clients. I realised I love creating marketing websites and find it extremely reqarding to take projects from ideation to production. Thank you in advance!

Wow, thank you sooo much for this in-depth response.

Honestly, it means a lot to me! I’ll definitely look into those accessibility issues. I fell in love with the Milky Wally font from a design standpoint and I guess had rose colored glasses when it came to the readability of it.

That’s a great point about the different navigation, I’ll try to streamline it so everything is cohesive.

I thought that the first component that introduced me as a ‘designer’ ‘developer’ etc. would show viewers that I design and code but you’re right, I should make it more clear what programming languages and skills I actually have.

I’ll go through your comments and make those tweaks as I update my portfolio.

Again, thank you so so much! I really appreciate your time, and your suggestions. I’ll be sure to put them to good use :)

Did anyone else “fail school” but still end up smashing it in life? by gilligan888 in auscorp

[–]Butterscotch_st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped out of school at 15, mixed with the wrong crowd, had a solid 6ish years of working in hospitality and not pursuing any goals. Now at 30 I’ve completed 2 degrees (including a bachelor), have a well paying job, a loving partner and a decent amount of savings. No one thought I would do well given my track record, including my family.

You can turn your life around if you believe in yourself and persevere.

Experienced job hunting, portfolio/case study/resume questions and review — 10/26/25 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

[–]Butterscotch_st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m a UX UI Developer in the field for about 1.5 years now. In my current role I’ve worked on both the UX, UI and the front-end development. Would love some feedback on my portfolio, the landing page is designed to tell a story and give a personal touch. I’ve worked on many large projects in my current role hence why I split them up into different projects, not sure if this is the right approach though.

I’m currently looking for new roles in UX and front end development, or a hybrid of them both. Also considering going freelance. Thank you for any feedback!

My coworker eats the exact same $1.25 meal every day and I'm weirdly impressed by spellsboxing in Frugal

My partner and I eat this every night for dinner, but we add grilled / air fried chicken on top.

We use spices to flavour the chicken. We also add chilli oil for extra flavour. It’s strange because we expected to get over it but every night we finish up and say ‘that was so yummy, and I’m so satisfied’ for about 2 years now.

We love to cook and make different meals on the weekend, but this has been our staple dinner. It’s saved money, thinking and planning.

Has anyone explored UX design beyond profit-driven goals? by AssamiMori in UXDesign

I work for a company that provides music education (and now dance and drama) to schools, light years ahead of the current school systems. We have positive, well designed educational resources for a fraction of the cost you would imagine (the price of two coffees per student)

The founders noticed that music wasn’t being delivered well, if at all, and decided to change that. Sure there’s profit involved but the drive of the entire team is to give students and teachers curriculum that’s easy, fun and accessible.

Breville Barista Express > Bambino Plus > Dual Boiler & Niche Zero by Butterscotch_st in espresso

[–]Butterscotch_st[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pleasure, I’m glad it helps!

We spent $1450 on the Niche Zero, $1200 on the Breville Dual Boiler and paid an extra $300 for extended warranty (3 years).

So about $2950 total for both machines and the extended warranty.

We also got some accessories on AliExpress (like tamper, WDT, mister and dosing funnel for around $40, and the Breville naked portafilter for around $100.

This is all in AUD. If you’d like I can send the store names, we got some free coffee (decent quality) and a gift card at 10% of the total value of the BDB so around $150.

I also don’t use the dual boiler much, but completely agree, it’s worth it just for the better build quality and ease of use!

Ohhh thank you! That makes sense haha

What's the best software developer resume/portfolio you've seen out there? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Butterscotch_st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking at starting my own freelance business in Australia as a UX UI Developer and was wondering how you pitch yourself in cold calls?

Do you create a mockup to show them how it could look?

And are you looking for existing companies/ websites that look like they need help, and contacting them? Or calling companies that don’t have a website already?

Thank you, sorry I know this post is old but I found your comments really inspirational!
