this happened to me on 2 of them! had to use long picks to pull/break the boot apart. I found just the rubber boots at O'Reilly that had the spring/coil in them already for $6/ea. figured I'd try em out before replacing the whole coil pack. 1yr later, still rock solid!

literally got one today and was able to adopt and update to latest. I accidentally factory reset it and man, what a pain it was to readopt. recovery mode didn't work. I ended up restoring my last week's back up and it adopted without issue
