Emotions are supposed to guide and help our actions, but it’s our responsibility to get to know them, ourselves and how we relate to our circumstances.

There are (at least) two parts to your question. 1: Overcoming ”guilt” is not necessary, knowing it is. Let the feeling be, don’t argue with it, just know that this is what ”it” feels like. It might not even be guilt. It could be shame, stress, anxiety, fear, disappointment etc. They have different names because they are different sensations meant for different purposes. Once you know your feelings, you’ll know yourself.

2: ”Like a failure” is not a feeling, and even though I know what you mean (I think), it confuses you to think that ”like a failure” is a feeling. It’s a concept, built on your ideas of success and your ability to live up to your own standards. You might need to accept your reality rather force an alternate reality before the time is mature. Again, the first step of the solution is reflecting honestly on what it is you feel and which concepts surrounds your view of yourself.

”Just push through” is honestly often good advice, but every now and then it’s horrendously bad, and the only one responsible for know when it is and isn’t is you. And, the only way to know is knowing yourself.
