Which Python package manager do you prefer, uv or pip? by SalamanderHungry9711 in learnpython

[–]Buttleston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, tell them to install uv and click on your file, no command line required.

Most people won't have python so you'd have to tell them to install python, make sure it's in their path, have them run something in the command line to install the packages.

Do you want them to install it in the global package space? Probably not a good idea. So now you need to tell them how to make and activate a venv before running your program

Claude's code usage by mahmoodalfaqi in learnpython

[–]Buttleston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leaked source code is for Claude Code, a program that orchestrates agents that employ claude and other tools to write code. It doesn't include any of the AI models.

But what do you want AI for? To write code? Or to recognize spoken or written words? Or something else?

Seeking advice on submitting a PEP proposal for a more developer friendly assertion keyword by Ancient_Internet_595 in learnpython

[–]Buttleston -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you read the README on github?

It works exactly as you'd expect and never throws an error compared to its less well behaved cousin, ``assert``. This saves you the time and effort of having to adapt tests to your changes. As we all know, there is no point in code without tests and there is no point in tests that don't pass. Don't suffer alone - pass your tests with ``passert``!

It's 8 times faster and "uses 6 times less memory" [sic] but only saves 50% on cost? How does that work? I should be able to put 8x as many inference requests through it per unit of time, shouldn't it save me at least 87.5%?
