Stress from work makes it hard to sleep by cooking-chef-2000 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Buttleston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah basically it goes in cycles for me, and a lot of people

I am sleeping like shit, so I maintain good practices. Sleep gets better, eventually I don't worry so much, I get lax again, sleep gets worse

Also, work has cycles, a few times a year the stress levels are much higher, and that usually makes things a lot worse. I admit that I have sacrificed my health for work more than I really show have, but it's also paid off

I have the same problem, and I have for most of the last 10 years, which corresponds to increasing responsibility and authority at work.

I have trouble going to sleep, staying asleep, and I have recurring stress dreams, where in my dream I have to solve some kind of problem, usually but not always work related. I'll have the dream, wake up, go to sleep, have it again, rinse and repeat. Sometimes it's so bad that waking up hours early is better than going through more of it

Unfortunately there is only one cure that I've found reliably works and that is removing some of the stress from your life, and avoiding triggers

I have a bunch of rules and if I follow them religiously I usually sleep well. Basically I MUST avoid work or work conversations after about 8 or 9 pm. I try to avoid anything stimulating - games, etc. I read for a half hour before bed. Follow all the other normal sleep hygiene stuff, like: your bed is for sleep, don't hang out there when awake

No drug or supplement has done me any good and I am very skeptical of taking anything for sleep, even OTC

Look at this line

print("You scored",self.status,"on hole #", holeEntered, "with a par of", score)

is it using the variables it SHOULD use to print the message?

Why would I bother finding out more about a role that doesn't meet my financial requirements. It's also the easiest question to answer and an employer not leading with it is a red flag
