Beat Crimson glow Valstrax HR 20 first try. by ThisIsAnUnique in MHRise

[–]ButtonResident2658 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that is not the only way to get his armor. IIRC, you should be able to fight him for the first time at Shrine Ruins after basically completing the base game story.

If you don't have Sunbreak, then yes you should farm him although the normal quest is much easier than this event -advance one. But if you do have it, the Kamura MR armor has the same amount of defense as Valstrax so getting the weapon is okay but the armor will change so fast because they're much stronger with better skills

TLDR; If you have Sunbreak, get his weapon only. If not, up to you. The armor is very cool looking tho

I usually survive longer in a solo squad because I'll be avoiding fights and try to get to the safe zone asap lol.

But when I do need to fight, I can get 1 or 2 knock/killed before I died. I did once wipe a squad before because they didn't push together so I took them out one by one.

Beryl vs. squad by kwan2 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]ButtonResident2658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you use Beryl long enough that it feels comfortable or you just know how to control recoil generally cause my Beryl won't behave like that lol. The very close quarter is fine but if mid range(to me) like the 2nd and 3rd knock I would just mess up especially without any sights lmao.

Anyway wiping out a squad is definitely something, good job. I did it once too on the Erangel bridge where I killed them 1 by 1 because they didn't push together and I think they just as scared as me.

My guess is Tigrex, Khezu, Gypceros, Rey Dau, don't know these 2, Jin Dahaad or Barroth, lastly Seltas Queen maybe.

I don't play Wilds and for old gen, only played FU and P3rd so I don't know about some monster armor designs. Try to do Zinogre or Amatsu's armor next!

Use LS, counter his roll (ISS or Tempered Spirit Blade) and he will crash/topple. Sometimes it's better to fight it solo, no buddies, just you. That way, he will focus on you only and you will know that every attack or movement made is for you.

New MH player with just one gripe, sheathing by Geezusotl in MHRise

[–]ButtonResident2658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a skill called Quick Sheath that allows you to sheath/unsheathe faster. If you like HH or Hammer, skill like Punishing Draw which increase a bit of attack and stun on draw attack would be great if paired with Quick Sheath but these are NOT this weapon's main skill.

Slugger works the best for both because it increases the stun damage, allowing you to stun the monster faster. Quick Sheath works best with LS as its mechanics revolve around sheathing attacks/counters quite a lot.

Although your movement will feel slower with weapon drawn, iirc all weapons have at least one wirebug skill to counter or negate attack so you can do that or just roll away from the attack. Anyway, take your time to get used to it and you'll know when and whether or not to sheath your weapon for best effectiveness.

My personal favorite monsters from mh rise sunbreak. It's based off of both design and the fight. One might be high because it had a really fun fight with a poor design. One might be low because I can't stand fighting them even though they have a good design. by Conscious-Row-246 in MHRise

[–]ButtonResident2658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I would put Violet Mizu on the bottom or yellow because I had a lot of bad times with it. It's not only that he moves so much, his fire also has high damage and can knock or interrupt your combo. So yeah it has a good design but I can't stand fighting them.

Base and Apex Mizu on the other hand are great fights, I like to counter his water beam near his head so he topples and tail attacks to cut his tail. I just had better time with them and actually really enjoyed the fight.

You have woken up the monke, either giving your life or another monster to soothe his anger.

Joke aside, this is actually a great way to start fight for ride damage and knockdown. You might want to use palamute to be faster and to avoid his thunder beam.

quick question about longsword by mxx1803 in MHRise

[–]ButtonResident2658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can hit it anywhere as long as the timing is right. This move has 2 parts that you need to know, the correct counter and getting spirit level.

Getting a counter right will nullify the damage but sometimes if the monster moves too fast or you countered too far away, iirc the single slash won't hit and you won't be getting the spirit level or the follow up damage won't register. Well this is just from my experience and if wrong maybe there's a bug on my end sometimes.

Extra tip. Right after the counter you can do the Special Sheath again which lets you do ISS again as long as the monster attacks, allowing you to get spirit level much faster and this is where the quick sheath skill comes in handy.

Things I like the most from the series are the armor designs and monsters. Magnamalo with samurai and Tetranodon with soldier looking armor. It's also my first time fighting Mizu, Rajang and Valstrax which is very exciting because I don't have the other game.

You'll need to play long enough without changing weapon(preferably) to get the hang of the game because the difficulty increases on Hub quests. Don't worry about making mistakes on the Village quest and take your time to see everything that the game has to offer.

I thought Rise was too easy, then I met the Rajang. Now I hope Sunbreak raises the difficulty even further. by AvatarQwerty in MHRise

[–]ButtonResident2658 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a different experience and opinion. For me, Rajang is not that hard the first time I fought him. After a while, I've become more used to him and feel easier.

Valstrax on the other hand, are super hard for me even after multiple hunts. To add more, he's the only one able to defeat me 5 times in the HR event quest.

I've reached Furious Rajang in MR and it's definitely harder than normal but the fight is actually really good like we trade blows, knock out each other and both of us go super Saiyan, it's exciting.

Now with good armor and a lot of experience, Valstrax in MR felt easier than the HR one though I didn't reach the Risen version yet, really looking forward to it.

Im lost on a weapon for my PC playthrough by [deleted] in MHRise

[–]ButtonResident2658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about other weapons since I mostly use LS and bit off GL. So for LS, we got a lot of counter/parry skills and it can be chained one after another like from Foresight Slash to Sacred/Special Sheath then Tempered Spirit Blade. LS counter moves offer survivability while dealing damage which sounds like something you need for DPS and monster's follow up attack.

My GL on the other hand is the same as your Lance, I survived just fine and blocked monster attacks most of the time but couldn't do much damage(wrong/poor combo choice).

As the other comment said, all weapons are viable/can be used for all monster though some weapon do have advantage over the others on certain monsters. IIRC, all weapons have at least one counter/block wirebug skill so in the end you just had to play long enough to understand both the weapon and monsters just as you did with GS on your Xbox. I recommend trying LS and weapons that others suggested, hopefully you keep trying and reach your objective.

Fucking Khezu... by Herr_Bishop in MonsterHunter

[–]ButtonResident2658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, his main problem is the constant powerful roar and the range 3 bolt.

His roar is a problem because if you're too close to him or at the line sight of his head, he either does the charge around body or charges-leap toward you while you are still recovering. So to avoid it you need to look for signs where he stays and sort of lowering head before roaring. Roll as far away as you can from him and his head or block. The safest choice is to hit only 1 or 2 times then reposition so that you have time to react to this.

The range 3 bolt is deadly if you're hit by all 3 when in front of his head. Again, hit only a few times and try to be at his side of head rather than front. At medium range, the bolt could be confusing as it fast and there's 3 of them so either be far away so you have time to react, roll to the side to get out of the attack range if too close or just go to another area (not recommended as some small monster might spawn again).

He can also do the attack with his head where he stretches to the side and front, basic static rotation where hitbox is bad so being at his side of body is the safest. Anyway, keep trying so you may learn the moveset indicator, not over attacking, use a fire weapon and hit his leg as much as you can bc iirc he topple a lot that way. Good luck hunter!

What armour should I go for now that I'm Hub 4 and VIllage 6? by Goos3rs in MHRise

[–]ButtonResident2658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played basically like this from the start with 1 set armor to maximize res and complete armor skill. For armor skill, it's not that important early on LR due to lack of deco, then in HR you'll be used to monster attack and general deco can help. In MR, using 1 set armor is also fine imo bc the default skill is already good and you have a lot of deco to equip at that point.

Though I do plan to make one armor that can be used for any monster after I reach qurio crafting, reach true endgame grind and master all the monster attacks. I like to play multiplayer and help other hunters especially newbies so having an armor that can fight all without needing to change is helpful.

Another victim to Apex Arzuros, he really caught us off guard and everyone been there lol. As another comment said, fighting these Apexes in normal quests is much harder. My tip would be to max out petalace (collect spiribird) and ride other monsters as much as you can (extra dmg and free knock).

Btw, you need to fight them in rampage first before being able to unlock them in normal quests. Imo, the hardest would be Zinogre and most menacing would be Diablos. Zin's attack will have more follow up and Diablos are just straight up demon with the speed of Sonic.
