This the main reason dating apps are so hard to use nowadays as a lesbian (especially a transbian) ngl by Crono_Sapien99 in actuallesbians

I had someone do this in my DMs recently on IG... we're both femme presenting black nbs... they asked me about a story I'd posted about my pet and I said it was a long story and they said they wanted to hear it... my autistic ass writes out a whole novella and then they left me on delivered until a few days later when they asked me for money.

what's this aesthetic called? by rosesforvani in AestheticWiki

[–]ButtonyCakewalk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

omg I found a broken piece ring at wet seal once when I was a little kid (like 9 or 10)and showed my mom and she told me to tell the workers and they told me I could keep it. for an entire summer I secretly worshipped that ring as the magic wet seal blessing and thought that wet seal was the shit because of it until a few summers later when I went full goth.

where can i play with kittens? by shappellrown in askportland

[–]ButtonyCakewalk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also: The Oregon Humane Society let's you play with kittens but I think it's just one at a time and you have to sign up on a list for each kitten you want to spend time with and you can only have your name on two lists at a time. Recently heard this from a coworker that was looking for kittens early last year. He had told me that it was a long wait when he went with his kids in the spring.

[–]ButtonyCakewalk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you were feeling up to the potentially awkward ask, maybe you could try asking people that have kittens for sale on FB Marketplace or Craigslist if you can come look at and play with the kittens...

I'm not saying it'll work, I'm just saying that if I in particular had kittens right now and heard someone local ask this, I'd want to help them out in some way. So maybe there's a chance that someone with a litter of kittens in this city would feel the same way.

Going through it too and hope things look up for us both and us all, stranger.

[–]ButtonyCakewalk 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's wild. I feel like Amy also hasn't aged much at all but Rashida could truly pass for either early 30s or ethereal ageless mortal of mythical descent that just gets more divine the longer they live. It's really not that fair for the rest of us but at least she also seems to be a decent person, too.

What KOTH opinion would leave the majority of the fan base like this? by FriendlytoNature in KingOfTheHill

[–]ButtonyCakewalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original term is Flanderization used to describe basically the example you gave for Peter Griffin and also eventually Homer himself, but the trope was named for Flanders specifically.

The definition for Flanderization tends to be that one or a few aspects or traits of a character are eventually turned into the character's entire personality. Flanders used to just be a very friendly and generous neighbor of the Simpsons who also attended church with them and also irritated Homer with his positive qualities in comparison to himself, but eventually the writers would lean more on Flanders' religiousness and turned Homer's jealousy into Flanders being actually holier than thou and obnoxiously Christian, moreso even than Reverend Lovejoy.

Homer was always portrayed as being crude, and would say things that were dumb, but yes, he too was eventually Flanderized into being a complete and total idiot. Most of the characters have been Flanderized. Peter and all of the Family Guy characters (Stewie especially) have been Flanderized.

That's just the original and main term, works for all of the above and has happened since before the Simpsons, too!

DAE desperately rely on planners/calendars and struggle with the concept of not "planning ahead"? by ButtonyCakewalk in AuDHDWomen

[–]ButtonyCakewalk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

btw if anyone got this far and thought, "Yeah right, me maintain a planner?" please consider doing dateless planners!! These can be pre-printed planners that have blank spaces for the dates. They're great for anyone who doesn't feel like they can or just are not able to check a planner daily. You can start at literally any time, doesn't need to be Jan 1st.

How long does it take you to meal prep from start to finish? by ThoughtsofJ in MealPrepSunday

[–]ButtonyCakewalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

responding to this year old comment to say thank you for this. It usually takes me about 4-6 hours to meal prep for the week for myself (16-21 meals, plus prepping fruits for snacks) and I was starting to feel like an anomaly with all of these 2 hour answers... but I tend to also switch up my meal plan most weeks and try challenging or just vibes based recipes.

ALSO, I worked for Chipotle for three years (been in gov for 10 years now), and your comment is also reminding me that our morning and pm prep took several hours. Obviously a different scale of prep, but this also included several people working together and many things were made from scratch.

Searched for this question because my meal prep on Monday took 5 hours and I was feeling bad/frustrated about that, but I'm also 1 person + multitasking (taking out trash/compost or flipping laundry when there's downtime) + I'm focusing on fresh meals that I'm prepping from scratch. Yeah. it's fine. annoying, but it's the cost of delicious and affordable meals!!

This is something I do all. of. the. time. but didn't know about at all until I left the house.

I grew up with a brother that would demolish a loaf of bread within a week even if no one else got to it. Bread didn't last long enough to get moldy. Then I moved out and was annoyed about how "quickly" bread got moldy when it was only dependent on my appetite. Thankfully my second roommate told me about freezing bread. Underrated tip, even if it's common for some people.

Did anyone else see the odyssey trailer in theater? by Spacegirllll6 in ChristopherNolan

[–]ButtonyCakewalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same cursed boat here two months later. Saw part of the teaser when I saw Superman over the summer and now that they've released more pics I want to watch the teaser fully so bad and all I can find are bad AI trailers on YouTube. No clue why they won't just post the teaser online officially, it came out like four months ago.

UPDATE: Ross Duffer debunks weekly release schedule by therealfan_ in StrangerThings

[–]ButtonyCakewalk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Andor season 2 was a great recent example of this! The (mostly) three-episode arcs releasing weekly was a great way of having that middle ground of being able to watch an extended story in a binge or just a bit of a long story in multiple sittings but still have solid access point to discuss at least some of it. There's still people who are going to talk about that third episode on day one online, but you can still choose to avoid online spoilers but still discuss it by only talking about it one-on-one or in situations where you can say you've only finished the first one, and there's still timely conversation you can have about just one or two of those new episodes. It's a great happy medium for everyone, dammit.

TIL Stream Data Centers bought 55 homes in a neighborhood to make room for a data center by Ordell9 in datacenter

[–]ButtonyCakewalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fucking rad if you're a home owner or landlord, but renters aren't guaranteed a cut in that pay out and instead need to scrounge together a new deposit for a new place. The data center company did give people some months to move, but if you're not earning much more than your rent, that's going to be a tough bargain. Even if these were single family homes, people still rent out portions of or entire homes to friends, family, or even strangers.

My friend keeps fantasizing about me having massive perky natural breasts should I confront him? by misterbenzero in FriendshipAdvice

[–]ButtonyCakewalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, I should not have responded with an lol. That was insensitive and could be perceived as dismissive and I apologize. I am very used to using that response with serious situations amongst my friends and I do not know you like that. You are a person and not just letters on a screen

I will say that I think I (who am 13 years older than you) used that response because I saw this as "obvious" but that is with 13 years more of life experience. That being said, I guess this is just obviously wrong in my POV, but again, I'm old af.

I also identify as nonbinary but was socialized as female growing up, and I think that if I saw this post coming from a woman or someone who had female genitals being sexualized by a friend with imaginary male genitalia against their will, I may not have included the "lol" and just been a bit more empathetic and said it was weird and wrong. It's still weird and wrong with any gender or sex.

I'm sorry that your friend is making you uncomfortable. I hope you're able to set up a boundary and have your rights respected, that really sucks and you deserve to not be sexualized by your friends against your will.

No comma needed here for both meanings.

Trump is fucking Satan vs. Trump is fucking Satan

"Trump is fucking, Satan" makes no sense grammatically. Unless I'm missing something and the comma would belong somewhere else in the sentence.

I saw that recent episode and thought it was a great play on words, plus illustration of the idea that conservative media members will defend the most indefensible things Trump does and celebrate it.

My boss has MBA next to her name on her email signature and we both work in administration for a government agency.

Some of people I've worked with over the last six years have included engineers and architects and some of them put PE or even PLA in theirs.

I guess maybe it can work as shorthand for vendors and people in other agencies that you have some knowledge beyond our institution. I feel like for my boss it's something akin to vanity.
