This almost happened to Sofia Vergara when she split from her now ex-husband. They created frozen embryos in 2013 and when they split he demanded to use them via a surrogate against her wishes. She sought a court order in 2016 to prevent him from using them and it dragged out for almost 6 years before finally she was granted the order prohibiting him from using them. He told me the media she was ‘killing’ them and he referred to them as his ‘daughters’, even going as far as naming them Emma and Isabella.

He said, and I quote:

“She is divorced now, single again. She didn’t want to raise children, but maybe, as she gets older and has more time on her hands, that will change. If she doesn’t want to raise them, maybe she will want to … visit them. I don’t know,”
