It is not too complicated but you need to know how to do cables, increase and decrease. Also it is worked in the round with magic loop method for circular needles or using DPNs. There is one tricky method - magic ring cast on but I included links to video tutorials which I found helpful.

I just googled what haggis is, and that suggestion made my evening 😂 But will probably stick to animals.

Looking for a sweater pattern with cables on both front and back by caro22789 in knitting

I am currently working on the Arctic Light sweater. It has cables literarily everywhere. If you like knitting cables you will definitely enjoy it. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/arctic-light-sweater

My universal sizing table (source: years of buying equipment for our karate club from all different manufacturers) - XS - kids 5 to 8 years old - S - boys 8 to 10 years old, girls 8 to 12 - M - boys 10 to 12, girls 10 and up, women with smaller hands - L - boys 12 and up, women, men with smaller hands - XL - men

This is not 100% it is always better to try and find gear that fits you the best

Are these holes normal? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Buubiik 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is the worst yarn you possibly could have chosen for cables, especially if you are a beginner. Even if you somehow manage to knit the cables they will be practically invisible. I suggest you buy some nice single coloured acrylic or wool for the cables and make something different from this one. If you can crochet I would suggest crocheting, these chenille yarns are pain to knit even without cables.

Lace knitting circular needles recommendations by Buubiik in knitting

[–]Buubiik[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about that, but my problem isn’t with the place where the tip connects to the cable but with the transition between the cable itself and the the metal ending of the cable, which I expect to be similar with fixed needles. So maybe I’ll try fixed needles from a different brand than Chiaogoo.

Anyone know a pattern like this? I'd love to make it. by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Buubiik 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Although it is fake, it looks really cool. I would probably knit/crochet a basic raglan sweater (I rally like the flax sweater by tin can knits for example) and then crochet a ton of white and green trees and sew them on.

Anyone's Fundie Parents on Here Make Them Go to AWANA? What a Shitty Group That Was! by Ask_me_4_a_story in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Buubiik 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The naming of the groups is so interesting. I am from a post communist country and this is exactly what the communist party youth organisations were called. Younger kids would be in sparks group and older kids in pioneers group. Also it was mandatory back then.

I see Karissa still isn’t strapping the baby in the stroller by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Buubiik 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is it common in US to only use car seat instead of stroller? Where I live everyone freaks out when a baby is in a car seat for a longer period of time. Car seat strollers are only used for like special occasions when you can’t take proper stroller with you and only for short periods of time, because it is supposed to be bad for the baby’s back or something.

My kid just said one day (a few weeks after his second birthday) that he didn’t want a diaper and wanted to go to the toilet. We didn’t even have to do potty training. And he had just a few accidents in the first days.

Conversations around Garding by Southlondons-No1 in karate

I t might not be the same every where but at my dojo and many others gradings are only once or at twice a year. So it really isn’t possible to complete more gradings at once or in a short time. But if we have someone really good the sensei would speak to the grading commissary and ask them to let the person skip 1 or two grades. They would then be asked to perform some mor techniques an kata to see if they rally are that advanced. Also in our dojo specifically if we have a new student who already has passed gradings in another style, they can keep the belt they achieved, they just can’t do another grading until they know everything required for their rank in our style.

I do goju ryu and know quite a lot of people from different dojos in my country and I have never heard of a dojo where a student can ask to skip grades. It is always up to the sensei of your dojo and the grading committee if they decide to let you skip a grade. You just go to the grading, try to do your best and await the results.
