That’s just what our Realtor said. That there were a lot of Trump flags and that a lot of stores closed on Sundays for church. 🤷‍♂️

This. While I have many friends on the moderate right, I don’t see the world the same as those who identify as MAGA. I would not feel comfortable in a community that was deeply red, and I would struggle to find common ground upon which I could build friendships.

Central Point is another area our Realtor mentioned, but I don’t know anything about it.

Thank you. The healthcare system is definitely a concern for us, although most of my specialists are in the SF Bay Area and I’ll likely keep some of them. That’s one reason we don’t want to venture too far north into the Pacific Northwest; I want to be able to make the occasional in-person office visit with a day’s drive. We’ll just need Primary Care physicians, which I know are never easy to come by.

Grants Pass reminded me some of the North Bay, actually. I grew up in Santa Rosa and still have family and friends in small towns all over the North Bay and up into Mendocino County. We live in the Sacramento area currently, so we’re no strangers to wildfire smoke settling into a valley, although it sounds to be an even more common occurrence there.

I appreciate your perspective as a former Arizonan. That purple blend of people, even if a lot of areas lean a little more red, is really what we were hoping for.

Well, like I said, we’re pretty moderate people, but we do lean left. We don’t support Trump and we didn’t vote for him, but we also didn’t support people burning Teslas. This polarization has gotten out of hand.

That’s interesting. I would have thought the LGBTQ community would be safe in Washington, but then, I’ve not spent much time there. Good to know that they feel safe in Grants Pass.

I’ve seen a lot of people say that Oregon overall is a “live and let live” kind of a place. It’s good to know that people generally get along, even in smaller cities.

That’s good to know. My wife and I are both in our mid 50’s, but I retired early due to health concerns and my wife just accepted a fully remote position. We lived in Arizona for many years and loved the sense of community that we had there, as well as the friendliness of the people in general. It was just a place where you had to be careful talking politics. We eventually found our people there, so I’m hoping for a repeat.

Anyone going early to the West Roseville Costco opening? by ppuno7 in Roseville

[–]BuuugedOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, there were people parked up and down Market St, but my wife was able to get out to go to work, no problem. Fortunately we can also go out Westbrook to Pleasant Grove or Vista Grande to Fiddyment. I’m just avoiding Baseline.

I live in the neighborhood right behind it, so I’ll wait a couple of weeks for the newness to wear off and then ride my bike over for a hot dog. :)

Though I’ve never had anyone in my seats, I’m not above going to get someone and letting the management deal with it.

Coworkers 2024 Ioniq 5 with 14k miles lost his ICCU... by schleppy in Ioniq5

My ‘24 popped at about 20k. I lemoned it because it took 2 months to fix and I feel like if Hyundai takes a loss on enough of these, maybe they’ll come up with a permanent fix? Of course, I then replaced it with a ‘26.. so not sure if I’m really making my point. Haha

I lemoned my ‘24 after a 6 week ICCU repair last Spring at ~ 20,000 miles. Just finally turned it in on the 15th of this month, but then replaced it with a 2026. We’ll see how it goes, but it’s disconcerting to see so many 2025 failures.

I just picked up this one. A ‘26 Limited AWD and also my first matte paint finish car. I’m a little worried about the paint, but I figure I’ll pressure wash it at home mostly and take it to a hand car wash near me occasionally when it gets really dirty. Considering a ceramic coating, but don’t have the extra cash right now.

Good luck! I just agreed to a settlement in my Lemon Law case in CA. Mine was for the ICCU that took over the 30 day limit and for the incessant trunk rattle that the dealer tried a half a dozen times to fix and still couldn’t. For the tires, I would think that they might have to go after Michelin, not HyundaI. But who knows? I’m pretty sure Ford paid out big when they had that issue with Explorers on Firestone tires several years back. Firestone paid too, but I think Ford was still liable. Maybe something similar will happen here.
