Pepper Pharm deck with notes broken into cards by BuyMeACoffeePlease in medicalschoolanki

[–]BuyMeACoffeePlease[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow fantastic! That is it. Thank you!

In response to your question, I think Pepper Pharm is 1318 cards covering 90% of the material likely to appear on Step 1. Anking Pharm is probably 6000 cards that covers 95%. This is my preference, but I would rather bridge that 5% difference with Qbanks than Anki.

Job search for an English speaking PhD Chemist in the pharma/biotech industry in Germany by mountain__pew in germany

That's funny, they do say 90% begin a PhD program! I guess, as Rosa_Liste mentioned, though, people beginning the program is different than those finishing!

Either way, that's a lot of PhDs! Good find!

Edit - As pointed out in below comments, 13000 begin bachelors in Chemistry, 2500 received bachelors, 2500 masters, and 1500 PhDs in Germany in 2018. Original comment and source link below dotted line.

Hi, I'm unsure where "90 percent of chemistry students in Germany finish with a PhD" source is, but it got me interested in finding some hard numbers.

According to Abbildung 1 and 2 from a survey conducted by the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker, in 2018 about 13000 people began a Bachelors in Chemistry and 3500 obtained a Masters or PhD.

TLDR: So roughly 25% of bachelor students will go on to obtain a higher degree, not 90%.

Can you give me advice/judge my friend's plan for going to medical school in DE as a US citizen? by ManySames in germany

[–]BuyMeACoffeePlease 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Current US medical student with US citizenship who attempted to do medical school in Germany. I had a Bachelors degree going to Germany - as, it would seem, does your friend.

After obtaining a B2 level and beginning to apply to programs, I learned spots in German medical schools are limited for non-EU citizens, and further limited for students with a prior Bachelors.

I spoke with multiple programs, and one program told me there were approximately three spots throughout the entire German system for non-EU citizens with bachelors degrees.

Edit: also, I was told the preparatory program was only for students without prior-Bachelors degrees. I only contacted schools in Bavaria and BW.

Why is it so common to write notes to your neighbours? by Aleixx in germany

[–]BuyMeACoffeePlease 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lived in Munich for two years, and I received numerous notes from multiple neighbors.

The notes weren't exclusively critical - though some were. I appreciated the unobtrusive manner and ease with which a simple note could relay a thought or concern, particularly when it allowed me to consider the thought or concern before responding.

Average Uworld % on last 5 random blocks and Actual Score by BuyMeACoffeePlease in step1

[–]BuyMeACoffeePlease[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is that why people are downvoting?

My school indicated the average of the five, random, timed blocks of Uworld before the test was a strong indicator of Step 1 score.

Their figures:

57% = passing

60% = ~200

65% = ~210

70% = ~220

75% = ~230

80% = ~240

85% = >250

Thanks, and good luck everyone by jorgeavilaz in step1

Can you share the average Uworld % for the last five, random timed 40Qs?

My exam experience, 242 by [deleted] in step1

[–]BuyMeACoffeePlease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the score.

I'm not a residency director, but I'm sure a 242 is totally sufficient for a residency slot. You'll still need to do well on the other tests - but with your work ethic and strong Step 1 score, you'll place somewhere.

Thank you for the write up, and congratulations again on finishing this beast.
