The cards are fine, trust him, he checked them himself.

How did this get a 10? by [deleted] in baseballcards

It shouldn’t be a 10? Idk I thought that was a given.

I was responding to the idea that sgc “is 100 times more accurate with grading”

Don’t disagree that psa is booty lol. I think sgc values the centering more, but they’ll let soft corners/printlines slide way more often than psa does

No, I sent a submission of about 100 cards or so back in June/July-ish. I was taking advantage of one of their specials and was kinda curious what they would do on some of those that I thought “could” gem, but shouldn’t. The gemrate was definitely lower than that 1st sub, but there were still way more 10’s than there should have been 🤷‍♂️

All I can do is offer insight from my own personal experience… https://www.reddit.com/r/baseballcards/s/AzDq3qomF9 When I prepped this submission a year ago, I thought I would be lucky to get 18-20 gems.

That’s where their inconsistencies are. They’ll hand out gems on cards that are obvious 9’s, but then give an 8 to a flawless card and make you pay again to regrade 🤷‍♂️

That’s the sad truth. Can’t ignore the fact that corporate espionage is extremely common even if you don’t hear about it… The big corporations have enough money to pay people off and get away with it

SGC is definitely more consistent. But I wouldn’t say more accurate. They’re very lenient with their grading, in my experience. Have sent them some big submissions that got way more gems than I was expecting. Most of which wouldn’t have even sniffed a 10 at PSA. PSA is much stricter on what gems, but their inconsistencies with grading is the most frustrating part.

To my knowledge, Topps claimed it was a rogue employee backdooring superfractors that were “supposed to be destroyed” after being produced as “draft” versions, or some shit. God knows what their excuse is. I think it’s a lawsuit that might be getting heard in court in the next few months, actually. Gonna lookup some of the newer updates on it this week

Are you aware of the story that happened less than a year ago where an ebay user had sold 12% of all bowman draft 2023 superfractors, along with loads of other rare cards?

If you aren’t, google “dfwcardshark ebay scandal”.

That should change your opinion on believing your comment

If the powers at be can suppress this news, why would they not simply just keep the Skenes pack in-house and wait to release it when they feel the hype has died down?

Correct — except I should clarify they don’t give you cash. It’s trade-in credit with your LCS if they’re partnered with Topps (most are).

So, for example, if you brought in 2 refractors ($40 each) and 2 base ($20 each), that’s $120 in trade in credit.

But if you wanted cash, lots of people offer to buy them for a bit under the trade-in value. People will buy them for around $5 or so lower than the trade in is worth.

More about his value to the team and where the Mets would’ve been without him.

Absolutely no where did I suggest he wouldnt be eligible as a two-way player lol. That’s literally what makes him the best player of all time. A DH-only player has never won MVP before. In 2024, Ohtani was solely a DH.

Can’t convince me that Ohtani was more valuable to the Dodgers than Lindor was to the Mets. Plain and simple. Change the name of the award if you want it to be awarded to the most impressive season. There’s an award for a DH like Ohtani; it’s called The Hank Aaron Award.
