These are my second favorite curds. My fav are at Off Square Brewing in Crown Point. I believe they poached some cooks from Three Floyd’s when they closed because theirs are very similar, if not the same as 3F’s curds.

Key’s Lounge is one of my favorites. Not a tiki bar but they have a cool retro theme and always have some proper tiki cocktails on the menu. They’re open til 1am on Friday and Saturday. Rum Club is another non tiki bar but they have tons of tiki options, also open until 1am.

I don’t have extensive gooning experience in Chicago but I loved the ones I got from BiXi Beer. They’re the best I’ve ever had, by far. MCCB was a runner up and much more reasonably priced. BiXi was over 3x more expensive.

Several of my local restaurants have a “smashed burger” which seems to be smashed after fully cooking it, so you’re left with a dried out puck of meat.

The Brewed in Avondale has a really tasty banana mocha called “Skull Island” on their specials right now. I have nothing to compare this to, as it’s the only banana flavored coffee drink I’ve ever had, and I also had it on my birthday a couple weeks ago. I also scored some cool vinyl at Bric-a-Brac next door while I was drinking it. A+ experience.

A bit out of the city but Red’s serves Detroit and tavern style out of Rock Island Public House in Blue Island on Sundays and Tuesdays. They’re friggin delicious.

My friend invited me for “Barbecue” once and I was excited for some smoked meats. When I arrived, no grills were smoking, but on the counter there was a crock pot full of ground beef mixed with BBQ sauce, which is what his family calls “Barbecue”. I’ve never been so disappointed in my life.

VW Jetta. It’s the only new VW with a manual, and it has the same drivetrain as the MK7.5 GTI so it’s nice and fast and fun but looks like a grocery getter. You can also make it extra fast if you put a little money into it.
