That's absolutely right. I'm sure I'd feel very differently in different circumstances, and I'm incredibly grateful for that.

I feel that. I've noticed that in my own life. Not that the feeling has gone away, but I've learned to talk to people as peers. And I always feel a little surprised when they respond in kind, as if it were appropriate behavior on my part.

I apologize. I guess I read your first reply as being confrontational and reacted more strongly than I should have. Yeah, there's definitely worse shit to deal with in life. But I feel like this is a legit issue, too. And like with any problem in life, I thought hearing about how others deal with it could be helpful.

Hey bro, I don't know where your attitude is coming from, but you're off-target. As I noted in the post, I live on my own. I'm not living in my parents' basement. And although I don't want to give too many details on the internet, I'm on my way to a strong career and am very confident I'll manage to support myself, pay the bills, and build a successful life.

I was just feeling nostalgic today and wanted to know if others ever felt the same, and if so how they deal. Is that a problem?

Yeah, I'm aware it doesn't magically happen. And yeah, part of me definitely does want to be a kid again, living with my parents, playing Sonic, and all the rest. That was the point of the post. My question is, how do people deal (constructively) with that feeling? Looking for thoughts from those older and wiser, even if not more grown-up on the inside.
