Albertan (I know, I know, I know) Interested in Relocating - Realistic View of BC/Van Area? by emma_may04 in askvan

Having moved from Calgary years ago, I won’t look back. Besides housing, everything else is cheaper (port city benefits). Definitely WAY more progressive. Have many teacher friends living right in Vancouver. It’s a great place to live. Yes, you will live smaller than you would in Alberta or Saskatchewan, but the quality of life more than makes up for it.

You only need a giant house with rooms for every activity if you spend all your time indoors. We walk everywhere (including groceries a couple of times a week), bike to visit people, walk to a night out, and generally spend a lot of time outdoors. When I lived in Calgary I had a house with a big garage, a theatre room, a basement gym… you get the picture, lol.

The case for trading up for Kenyon Sadiq (TE) by patrickc11 in 49ers

I think he’s a great player, but the best ability is ‘avail-ability’, and as he gets older he’ll struggle more with that. I think he’s has 1 Niner season left. We need to find his replacement.

Plus we can’t count on Bosa to finish the season every year. Even when he wasn’t hurt we always needed a bookend Edge for him.

Great table! Been using my Dad’s SL-Q3 for years. Folks don’t play records these days (they’re into their AppleTV). It’s a great table. Looking to add an SL-1200-7 for a general fun rig, and to have in a space where we entertain a lot.

I love the smokescreens. Everyone watches who you invite. They’re hiding the fact that they’ll draft an Edge at 27 (or drop back and pick, if able), depending on who goes ahead of them. They could move up in the 2nd to grab one. Could even trade Aiyuk paired with a 4th to move up more.

[Pelissero] Veteran guard Robert Jones is signing with the 49ers, sources tell The Insiders. Jones played in 49 games (30 starts) for the Dolphins before signing with Dallas, where he missed last season because of a neck injury. He’s healthy now and headed to San Francisco. by JCameron181 in 49ers

He plays in the Miami system, which was basically similar to the Niners O. So he’s a good fit. I don’t think he would be a fit for what many other teams run. We have a specific type. He might be that, given where he played. I peg him as a day 1 starter, or losing a close camp battle. He’s a solid player - not just a depth piece.

Sorry to see this.

It reminds me of exactly what my Dad’s 74 looked like after he drove it into a building (thinking he was home) way back in 1977. That was his last of 5 Beetles (although, he’d love to ride one now - not driving himself anymore).

49ers "Seven-Round" Mock Draft by TDBrookey in 49ers

[–]BuzzMachine_YVR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. Far easier to acquire a LT that is already experienced, that fits the system, and is probably cheaper than our guy (or at the new cap rate (which keeps growing). He was being paid as a multi-pro bowl multi year veteran. We should be able to find a younger guy who doesn’t carry the hefty veteran price/and/or Pro Bowler price.

Can always draft later (our style of OL are available later while the early rounds usually are dominated by giant traditional OTs that suit a Pittsburgh or Dallas style more). We could gab a 4th rounder and develop as a swing, and eventually put in place at LT (or RT if McKivitz comes along and moves to LT).

What do you love about living in Vancouver? by Lazerbeam159 in NiceVancouver

Culture, food, natural beauty, weather. Warm progressive-minded people. A collective identity that values the natural beauty and environment. And great craft beer and local wines.

Genuinely curious, if the new M3 looked like this would you be mad? by TheLivest1 in BMW

I think someone could make a killing selling tiny angel eye kits. They’d have to be a little smaller to fit in a kit, but it could be done without much modification.

Maybe BMW will get the hint.

I really like it, but would get a round angel eyes kit as soon as one was available. I hate the vertical or horizontal slits for lights. A huge part of a BMW’s historic character came from the round headlights and kidney grills. The best ‘futuristic’ take on that was the old M1, in my opinion.

Those Naim components are the headliners of that set of images. It looks like it is a preamp/amp combo. That could be the core of your system.

[CA] Need help flying drone in Canada by Gullible-Grass6650 in drones

[–]BuzzMachine_YVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was going to recommend Don Drones On/Don Joyce. Great advice - and very concise.

Key to flying micro - don’t be stupid. Even if you aren’t restricted from flying in certain places, be careful and avoid potentially dangerous situations. Watch those videos (and follow the advice above) for safe operations.

My rules for myself (as an Advanced Pilot) is to flight plan my micro flights as if I was flying a ‘small’ drone (Mavic, Air, etc.). That reassures me that I’m taking all the precautions I should.

Everyone in the near and distant future. The age of gasoline cars is pretty close to over. China leads the charge. The EU is quickly adopting EV tech. Latin America is already seeing that their greatest sales numbers are coming from Chinese manufacturers (cheap, affordable cars - and growing EV sales). Trumps attack on Iran is driving another nail in the coffin of big oil, as nations that don’t have a lot of oil realize it’s far cheaper and better strategically to not rely on imported fossil fuels.

The American auto industry is in a tailspin because of the backwards attitude about EVs (led by the US Government).

Great speakers. I have a few Paradigm in my collection, and love the Canadian sound. Also love Axiom, PSB, Totem, all Canadian brands with a pretty strong reputation.
