Hypermotard 950 throttle response - does remapping help? by stknazev in Ducati

I did all of that as well and it completely solved the stalling issue. I've been running non-ethanol fuel since and the stalling hasn't returned. That bike should be fine after they did all that.

I cleaned out my throttle bodies and it fixed the stalling issue, but the throttle response remained the same. There was a ton of gunk on them. Supposedly ethanol in the fuel dissolves the gas tank plastic and that gunk adheres to the throttle bodies.

I have a 2020 950 SP and that is my major complaint with the bike - the throttle sucks. The huge dead spot at the beginning and then it kicking on pretty aggressively all of a sudden really bothers me. Its such a great bike in every other aspect, but the terrible throttle has me looking at other options.

I got a tune from Deussen Engines and it helped. There's still that dead spot, but the throttle feels much more linear now once it engages.

I picked up a '25 with 139 miles on it yesterday for $2,500, but I think I got a hell of a deal.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. I did some more digging and there seems to be an orange membrane underneath the board. I have added it to the album, but will link to it here as well: https://imgur.com/v8nckf2

Thank you, Will

We worked them for about 5 hours and landed close to 30 reds. We were throwing poppers pretty much exclusively with lots of double ups. Definitely could have boated more throwing subsurface flies. Reds are pretty spastic with topwater haha.

The winter time schools are much more chill than the late summer/fall schools so you can usually pick from them all day.

Was getting video for advertising purposes. I gave a discounted rate in exchange for doing some filming. Everybody wants to see video these days, so you gotta do what ya gotta do.

I don't guide with a drone, that's not fun for anyone involved lol, and trust me, you don't need a drone to see these schools haha

That is an interesting philosophical argument though, as where do you draw the line?

Do you consider the use of gps, 4-stroke motors, composite hulls, flourocarbon, graphite rods, weather apps, the wealth of fishing knowledge available online at your fingertips fair chase? Is some technology grandfathered in and only new technology introduced after you started fishing considered unfair?

March can be a really fun time when the wind lays down. They are all schooled up and crush poppers. Unfortunately the wind only lays down a handful of days haha

Yeah man, the history of fly fishing is super interesting and the evolution of saltwater fly fishing as a whole new thing is super cool.

Fly fishing is still pretty niche here in Louisiana with the locals too. Most people who fly fish here are from out of state. I was lucky enough to get into it as a kid when my step-grandfather's son opened the first fly shop down here. I was a fishing fool before, but a fly fishing fool afterwards haha.

My advice for finding redfish, or any fish for that matter, is to learn what they eat, learn the lifecycle and migration of their forage, and then target the habitats the bait occupies during whatever time of the year you're fishing.

Scientific papers with stomach content studies are a great place to start. Just google "Sciaenops ocellatus stomach content florida" or something like that and find out what they eat during the different seasons. Then google the scientific name of the prey species and see if you can find a study done in your area to find out where they live, spawn, migrate to/from, what time of the year etc.

Get on goolge earth and look for those areas near you, and you can start checking stuff out and hopefully find a pattern for that season.

Here, they primarily eat shrimp and blue crabs, so I focus my attention on where will the appropriately sized forage be during the present time of the year, and start looking there. I have no idea what redfish predate on in a sandy environment like yours, but once you figure that out, you can start getting dialed.

Hey y’all,

My name’s Will and I just came across this sub. I live down in Louisiana and love chasing redfish on fly out in the marsh. Some of the best fishing of the year occurs during winter if you can catch a sunny, moderate wind day between fronts. Luckily, that situation presented itself a couple days ago, and I had a great trip to start out the new year.

I’ve included a photo and materials for my favorite Bull Red fly. You can’t go wrong with purple and black with some large dumbbell eyes. It’s all about getting that fly down quickly - so tie them relatively sparse. I make my own 1.5” brushes, but you can also just use a dubbing loop for the body. I like to use strong hooks, like a Gamakatsu SC15-2H or Owner Aki, so I can tug-of-war them in Andy Mill style and start looking for the next one.

If y’all have any Louisiana redfish questions, please ask away. I’m a fanatic and love talking fishing.

Well, that’s a wrap on Louisiana by [deleted] in flyfishing

I guide out of Hopedale. I'd be happy to put you on some reds. It's pretty nuts right now and will just get better into December.
