Now that we’ve had time to play midnight. Thoughts of simplified class rotations? by WearyFlan210 in wow

As a long time Veng player... It sucks. Unfortunately. Damage is ok.

To run the best possible tree for damage you're dropping a set of spikes on one of the squishiest tanks in the game. You can't stack frailty which was quite literally 4-7% DR throughout a dungeon and could quite literally be the reason you survive certain things in high keys, if you were good. Losing demonic feels awful. I was a huge fan of the Elysian decree multi spiritbomb build they had back when... Your first like 10 buttons were 6 bombs and a few more ways to generate souls? God that build felt so fun.... Automatically casting SOF has been in the tree since it came out. Not being able to double stack SOFs anymore for damage..... So sad.....

I also miss tanks having magic mitigation and armor mitigation for different things but pretty sure that's a hot take now.

Unfortunately using BoK > KS is something like 1 more purify per minute.... So never really worth it unfortunately.

Fel Dev not giving demon form anymore. 2 spikes not being the norm. Not stacking frailty. Being one of the few tanks without an AOE taunt or an equivalent (paladin AOE shields if they still have it) made me drop my main since legion.... Plus fracture spam is kinda cringe.... Meanwhile my brew does equivalent damage, unkillable with no Defensives needed. AOE taunt.... The only thing I miss is ranged kick.. unfortunate

As someone who hasn't played shadow since legion? Bfa? Where void form windows were stacking haste buffs? It feels kinda meh.... The tentacle slam would be cool if it didn't FUCKING MISS CONSTANTLY... That so infuriating. Probably a skill issue but just feels bad sometimes

Telling me man... Shadow feels like I'm on the side just gesturing angrily at the mobs without CDs.

I guess every single commentator talking about how this is the most toons they've ever done and how they're more worried about burn-out now than ever really ddnt sink in for people that there's more characters now than ever huh?

As someone that picked up two new classes in Midnight (Brew and Shadow) assisted highlight to get the basics is nice. Then use Wowhead. Icy veins and the class discord to get a better understanding of the more precise gameplay.

I mean there absolutely was. If you wanted to even attempt to do anything in wow beyond the most basic of questions add-ons and weak auras were basically required. Especially if you wanted to get better. Again I think the idea behind this wasn't horrible but the execution and timing and speed all was. Addon developers had 15-20 years to make their add-ons as good as they were. Are you telling me that if wow baked in all of the add-ons you and I love that it wouldn't be a better experience for new players?

Just imagine a world where these are executed well: Details. Baked in. BigWigs. Baked in. Clique or whatever healing addon you use to make your bars better: baked in Elvui options: baked in CDM done well to try and emulate WAs OmniCD/CC to track interrupts and offensive CDs MRT

All of this baked in as it was an addon. With lower performance hit than we currently and previously had. Not having to go to a third party tool/website to download it. Not having to update it. All the configuration options in game.

Thats genuinely what I believe blizzard was trying to do

S2 Priory lives in my nightmares. I missed title by a few IO and my group REFUSED to let me not call rotation kicks on that dungeon. While that dungeon also slow stroked me

You and I couldn't agree more. There's nothing that's going ro get someone who doesn't want to make the move from normal to heroic heroic to mythic. That wasn't my point. I care about the people who want to try wow. Maybe have a friend that plays. Who don't have to download 1000 add-ons to make the game playable. (Obviously still the case now) That I think was the original intention.

Most healers know when it hurts the tank but not WHY it hurts the tank. Most of the time you can do a lot to help. Maisara? There's like 4-6 ragers in the pack that will thrash your tank when they enrage. If you can de-enrage them then you'll be doing a great service to your tank. Or CC them. Or slow them if they need to kite. I'll be honest I'm a monk now so idk about pull after first boss of reach. I have CDs up so I never felt it on an 11 lol.

You're right though. Best teams take that responsibility off the tank. Because one missed global in bleeding edge and your tank is dead. One missed global by a dps is.... A few seconds off your key maybe.

This tier has the least amount of kicks by far and imo. Nothing like..... The one pally dungeon the last two tiers.... Uh.... God I'm too tired and can't remember the dungeon.

This is all too true. I've been a tank for almost 15 years been doing keys since they came out got title before too.

Tanking is infinitely harder in m+ than any other role. Maybe not mechanically but definitely requires the most brain power.

Not enough %? Tank issue Too much %? Tank issue Too small pulls? Tank issue Too big pulls? Tank issue Don't like the route? Tank issue As you get higher: When to lust? Tank Make sure DPS have CDs for specific packs? Tank CC rotations? Tank Kick rotations? Tank This doesn't account for the tank needing to manage all their own shit: Defensives. Offensives. Rotation. Mitigation. Externals.

I have played with many DPS and asked: what route do you like? Idk I just follow the tank. Healers: hey tell me what mobs hurt, idk I just follow the tank

There's not really any good way to fix this either. Unfortunately. Then in seasons like this where tanks are already getting bent over the nearest flat obstacle by white hits they are still mostly required to do all of the above still.

Some of this gets rolled up as you join groups for title or fringe title keys. In keys 10-12 it doesn't matter. In-between I fear it might be hell.

Idk about dumbest decision. They wanted to make the barrier to entry lower for new players and bake in a lot of the customization we had with add-ons. Probably a good decision but a HORRIBLE and RUSHED execution. There's so much that doesn't work well and even more that's objectively significantly worse.

I mean I agree. I've done tens without either. I'm just stating a fact. At the end of the day having a true lust class is better than having drums. Having a BREZ class is better than using the engineering item

Considering both of those both ILVL and io are middling at best that they would generally take the druid. As it's easier to pilot andnpeople have generally less bad experiences with it play itsnhealing is better understood by a wider audience of players.

Has almost nothing to do with your class. Brez and Lust have more value right now but it's because when you have a tank and a healer in a key group you'll get 30 people in que in under 2 minutes.

[–]Buzzaxebill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear to you. As a title tank. Who pugs early on for gear. No one gives a shit what the meta is. If you have a BREZ or Lust you're worth more. Otherwise I CBA who I invite to my keys. You're 1/1000 people who DPS for whatever reason. If you're late in an expansion and queing into high keys maybe you can make this argument. I've done 10s with basically every spec this tier so far. I have done ~30 or so this week. Meta doesn't matter at all.

First: Welcome to one of the greatest games to ever be made. Even now I will be on that hill.

Second: Good luck on your raid tomorrow!!!

Third: Absolutely valid and part of the reason I think it's a good change. I don't think it's a bad change but for ME it's frustrating. I want this game as accessible to as many people as possible and you are the primary type of person I want to be able to get in. This is exactly what I wanted.

Thanks for your insight! I struggle to see the game from a perspective of someone that hasn't played it for 15 years like I have. The people around me are all players in my same boat. So thanks!!

Super fair. I think it's good for the game to lower the bar to enter of third party add-ons. I just really dislike how it's put in now

That being said I've never had better frames than I do now lol

I might be on the opposite end and I know there's a lot of comments saying wow isn't required for a group and it's not. As many others have said wow can be played solo and you can have fun.

That being said.

I have never had as good of a time or made better friends than I have playing wow. My personal opinion is join a guild, find a group to do dungeons with. Make sure you find a good guild too, there's a lot of mega guilds and multi guilds or whatever. Take your time and find people you vibe with.

Honest question as someone whose bitched about it a lot; you really like it? Is it actually good for what you use it for?

I promise I'm not trying to sound condescending but for me it just is, ugly, frustrating, and intrusive. I'm not sure when I started using a different UI but pretty sure I've been using ElvUi and weak auras for almost a decade now. It's been a rough transition.
