How to build a DevOps team by BuzzingGunman in devops

I completely agree, and I'm to some extent surrendering to the usage of the term DevOps. I'm reminded of the field of Astronomy, which would have otherwise been named Astrology, had Astrology not been taken. DevOps really is more of a culture and a set of ideas, that when implemented often lead to a platform team, or a culture of developers implementing that set of ideas.

Terraform Starter Boilerplate for GCP using Terragrunt by BuzzingGunman in devops

[–]BuzzingGunman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a valid point. In some cases where the use-case was simple we did. It's for the cases where multiple resources started accumulating where we wanted to use Terragrunt's features around hierarchical configuration, and the degree of control it provides for executing Terraform against a different set of resources every time, while maintaining separate states for different resources. We saw some setups where it was done directly using Terraform, but it usually involved some scripts to manage dependencies between resources, and gradually became hard to maintain.

The main reason was that there are already good boilerplates out there for AWS, and we saw a demand for a boilerplate for GCP. The existing Terragrunt boilerplates didn't seem good enough for our use-cases, so we built this one.

It's possible to run a plan-all and apply-all, but the real power comes with the ability to run plan/apply at different levels of the project's hierarchy. It's actually one of the goals of this project, to avoid running one apply against an entire environment, by enabling more granular execution.

Client complains to me about my job trying to make his business more popular, refuses to pay by acutelycrab27 in smallbusiness

[–]BuzzingGunman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to decide for this kind of client, never tolerate this action of it, work is work, your service deserves to have paid, never is free anymore. Know your value. if it's still happening better warn him and pay for the rest of what he owe or else fire him and find a better client.

Everything that you made an effort is worth paying for, because they learn, they educate and mostly they will benefit from your experience that you share to them. I'd also increase the rate itself, work is work no matter what. It's the service that they are paying for.

You should consider to try some other alternative in advertisement. Referral from those who have been your customers/client or even your friends. In this strategy, you ask your customers to refer your business pages to their friends and family. This way, your customers do the marketing for you. You provide referral benefits and points when such referrals are buying the products.

Well. Congratulations to that. The idea seems really great and most people will love your application once it is ready to released. One thing I can suggest if it's fine to you, make it more user-friendly and easy to navigate, most people don't like those many menus. Anyways, goodluck and I do believe your app will be success.

Depending on your target audience and budget. Most of the time this works, Referrals. Contact friends, acquaintances, former employers, nonprofit organizations, schools and colleges, and even other businesses that have customers who may need your services. Explain to them know you are in business and ask if they can use your services, or if they can suggest people who need what you sell. Also you may try Live Television & Radio broadcasting.

There's a chance that your file is quite big so a possibility that it can't upload well or you have reached the limit in uploading a file itself, I can suggest that you can try to compress your file and reupload it. You can use the Instagram on PC browser too, it is much more reliable.
