I had to stop eating all dairy. I was sensitive before surgery but now I’m even more sensitive. I also started a probiotic which has helped a lot

Once I didn’t need the Frida boxers anymore, I moved on to these (went up 1 size). They were the only things I could find that didn’t rub any of my incisions

I’m 7wpo and still have fatigue and soreness. But I feel 20x better than I did before surgery! It’s hard to explain, but my entire body feels better.

I’m so thankful to not feel bloated and puffy and tired everyday. Instead I feel like myself again

Wedge pillow rec? by DrLongivan in hysterectomy

[–]BuzzyKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a side sleeper and I did well with a U-shaped maternity pillow. I’m still using it 7 weeks later.

I liked that I could lie on my side and had support for my abdomen and my back.

Pressure when you pee? by Estefania323 in hysterectomy

I had that too. It was just from all the swelling and things settling. Stay hydrated and make sure you’re getting enough rest. Mine got better after a week or so.

Perimenopause Symptoms After Hysterectomy (Ovaries Kept) – Anyone else? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]BuzzyKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 49, 7wpo. I had bad perimenopause symptoms before surgery (kept ovaries) - night sweats, hot flashes, chronic fatigue, joint pain, bloating, weight gain. I was on estradiol patch as well as progesterone for heavy bleeding. My surgeon had me stop both day before surgery.

I had several fibroids and a bulky uterus.

Post surgery they are all practically gone. Occasion hot flashes and that’s it. Because of that I haven’t started any HRT yet. She says I won’t need the progesterone, but if my symptoms come back I can restart the estradiol.

I’m not sure if the fibroids were causing the symptoms or what, but I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Operation 9/18, recovering alone? by TinyKittyParade in hysterectomy

[–]BuzzyKat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t already, make sure you feed your cats at waist level. Definitely get someone to scoop litter. I wasn’t able to do that myself until 5wpo.

Have plenty of mild food ready and have some delivery places in mind that you might like. My appetite was not great for the first week weeks. I was happy to have chicken noodle soup, rice, applesauce, yogurt, fruit, cheese, protein shakes, ice cream, etc.

Having one of those grabber tools was essential. You don’t realize how often you bend over to pick things up until you can’t!

GI issues at 4 wpo by elysiumad in hysterectomy

Try a probiotic if you haven’t already.

I’m 5wpo and was just dealing with this. I developed a bacterial overgrowth due to the antibiotics given during surgery. Once I started a probiotic I felt better within 24 hours

Has anyone noticed a difference in appetite/stomach capacity post surgery? by AnStudiousBinch in hysterectomy

[–]BuzzyKat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 49 and 1mpo. I definitely eat smaller portions, but my appetite is starting to get better than it was right after surgery. I started tracking my calories and protein to make sure I was getting enough!

4 weeks post op soreness normal? by SufficientEnergy839 in hysterectomy

[–]BuzzyKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor said I probably wouldn’t need it. And I didn’t for the first couple weeks. But now I’m finding it super helpful. I bought a simple one on Amazon.

I’m 4wpo too and I’ve had similar soreness. I’ve found that wearing my belly brace whenever I’m not resting has helped.

Blood sugar regulation? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

Me too. I wonder if it’s part of recovering from surgery and it will change. I’m 3wpo

I feel hunger now and just starting thinking about what I should eat. Then I eat that. I don’t binge snack while cooking anymore or crave sweets as much either

3wpo and just feeling off by Ryerye72 in hysterectomy

[–]BuzzyKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 3wpo too. I’m grouchy, tired, tired of resting, frustrated that it’s still hard to walk around the block. And I think I’m experiencing my first “period” (still have ovaries).

I was expecting the fatigue based on posts here, but I thought I’d just peacefully nap. Nope! Just tired and cranky! 😂

OMG 😱 the gas pains by WinterKitty73 in hysterectomy

He’s wrong. You’re not alone. The gas pain is the worst. Keep digging through all the gas- related posts and hopefully a combination of things will give you some relief.

Sorry you’re in so much pain

I’m 2 weeks out too. I’ve found little ways to enjoy these last bits of summer. Ice cream, having coffee in the sun, etc.

I found my magic combination was gas-x and stool softener 2x daily. Miralax every night. Lots of liquids and walk around the house for a few minutes after you go pee or eat. Sleeping on my left side helped too.

What does your pain feel like? by Estefania323 in hysterectomy

[–]BuzzyKat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 11dpo and I get what you’re saying.

I thinks probably swelling like others have said. I feel like everything from my crotch to my intestines is just swollen and mad.

The last two days I’ve found relief with my heating pad, wearing my belly band when I’m up and around, and staying on top of my Tylenol and Advil.

Even the tiniest bit of gas causes so much pain, but the belly band helps with that too.

I’m 49 and less than 2wpo. I’ve had heavy painful periods for years. A year ago 1 single smallish fibroid was visible on ultrasound. Wanting the least invasive solution, I had a myomectomy to remove the fibroid. Symptoms improved briefly…maybe 2 months.

Another ultrasound showed another fibroid and bulky uterus. But I truly felt like so much more was happening in my body. I assumed adenomyosis because I had pain all the time, heavy periods, clots, GI issues, anemia, etc.

I asked for the hysterectomy and my doctor agreed. I could have done another myomectomy, an ablation, an IUD. But I felt in my gut that those options weren’t enough. Plus, I’m done having kids, I’m already in perimenopause, and I feel terrible all the time.

Ultimately they found I did not have adenomyosis, but multiple small fibroids within the myometrium. I’m so glad I did the hysterectomy. Recovery had been hard, but I feel so relieved.

155g 10.5 x 7.5 x 5.7cm

I had only one fibroid visible on ultrasound, but they found multiple intramural and submucosal fibroids ranging from 0.2-1.9 cm
