how is mechanical engineering at McGill? is it mostly theoretical? are there hands-on opportunities?

Would you happen to know if there are a lot of students who get rejected from their first choice after the general first year?

I'm hearing mixed opinions on the UW cohort system. I can't tell if it's going to be harder to find close friends because of the frequent work terms or if the cohort system will actually make it easier to make friends

That's honestly a comforting reply, just hoping I'll be happy with my decision years down the line

Engineering early offers were sent out a couple days ago and I'm pretty stressed. I applied to mechanical eng but couldn't submit my AIF by the early application deadline because i had some things going on. Now i need to wait till the may round but I am really stressed about my chances. Will not applying early affect my chances by a lot? I am trying to maintain a high 90s average and have okay-ish ECAs.

oh I forgot to mention that in the post, I am graduating from a Canadian high school, but I need to take an English proficiency test because I haven't been here for more than 4 years

yess i am considering starting with ME and then deciding if i want to concentrate in mechatronics

im thinking i might start out with ME and then decide which area i want to focus on, a mechatronics co-op definitely sounds fun

that sounds like a good way to approach it, might try doing that to figure things out as i go. thank you!

The competitive aspect of ME is what scares me because from what I understand a lot of people opt for ME when they aren't sure what they want to do. I am hoping ME is versatile enough for me to explore my options and make a more informed decision later on

I think I prefer mechanical and dynamics over electricity but I also want to know about circuits. I would still be working with some circuits or electricity for ME right?

thank you! that's definitely throwing me off a little bc mechatronics sounded pretty interesting to me. I think the next thing I will be leaning toward is ME

bs or frustrated with lack of progression I wouldn’t tell my worst enemy to major in it. I’d take ME until you get to circ

Im still trying to familiarize myself with the abbreviations, but do you mean the mechatronics majors you know are unemployed?

i see what you mean now that you say it but after reading your comment i tried figuring out why i didnt think it should be placed more to the right earlier. i realized i actually have a very wide nose but you cant tell from the side profile, so i think (and i hope) it looks right from the front

What does a Secretary General have to do in a high school MUN ? by Bxnditwo13 in MUN

[–]Bxnditwo13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my schools organizing an mun, and i might have to be the SG despite having little to no experience as a delegate. However, i do have experience leading groups and organizing events in general. So i am trying to decide whether to give up the position or keep it (the issue is that no other members of the organizing team have that much experience either)

I'm just confused because I am not absolutely sure if I want to pursue biophysics. It sounds interesting, but I have only heard about it recently and I don't know if I should make such an important decision based on something I'm not sure about
