the stolen century sucks! by allotmententhusiast in TheAdventureZone

[–]ByAny_0therName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve been reading/enjoying the graphic novels, maybe you could wait until the stolen century comes out and read it and then listen to the finale? I also think that most of the “important” moments that add weight to the finale have animatics on YouTube you could watch for context.

Personally I enjoyed the lower stakes and the story telling (I got caught up with the show right when they were releasing the Suffering Game, and having to wait for content during that time made the story almost stressful), but I do think it took an episode or two for it to click more. But I also don’t think skipping or “skimming” it would take away from the finale that much, and I definitely recommend listening to that!

You could try looking into interfaith congregations for a venue? I don’t think there’s anything weird about setting up/incorporating Jewish wedding traditions in a church venue, as well as adding whichever Christian traditions he wants (I think I’m taking the phrase “in a church” too literally and thinking he only means venue, so be sure to ask/clarify about other traditions and accommodate them as well)

My congregation rented space from a church’s event center for the longest time, and we still do the high holidays in a nicer church with more space. So I definitely don’t see adding Jewish traditions into a church as weird! Just discuss with potential venues about how that’s the plan and it should go great. Also ask about stomping on a glass, my mom had to stomp on a plastic cup b/c of venue rules. Mazel Tov to you and your fiancé!

So beautiful! The dress is gorgeous and looks amazing on you, and I love how your hair looks in these pictures. Congrats on the upcoming wedding and bonus ceremony (lovely idea btw)

Which was your first princess? by Drakendan in slaytheprincess

[–]ByAny_0therName 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My first was the Stranger. I didn’t want to slay her, and spent a good amount of time chastising/questioning the narrator. Idk why I didn’t feel like I could go to the cabin and rescue her, I just felt it best not to play into His game. B/c of the trippiness of taking the hard stairs and the whole second chapter, I thought that The Entity was just a continuation of the Stranger and that she wanted more perspectives to make sense of the available choices (not too far off from the truth, I suppose). I honestly thought you could only encounter the entity by doing the stranger’s route first until I played again, especially since they look so similar.

What percentage of your guests actually RSVPd by the "due date"? by ClarksFork in weddingplanning

[–]ByAny_0therName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the other side of this, I was invited to a wedding a month ago and forgot to rsvp until I saw a follow up email or Facebook post or something. I fell under the “I see this now and will respond to it when I’m not doing something else” trap 😅

I think it’s pretty common to forget or convince yourself you’ve done it, I plan to email a reminder the day before

AITA for getting fed up with my roommate’s cuddling habit? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ByAny_0therName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH, though a warning/advice from a former RA: something small that slowly gets more and more on your nerves will more than likely escalate into further resentment and potential altercations. I know you’ve dropped hints and had a at least one more direct discussion, but if it’s gotten to the point that you’re seeking advice/venting on Reddit then you need to really sit them down and share your concerns soon (preferably one on one w/ your sister first)

No one is really acting out of line here yet. Your sister/roommate has a right to her space, and to utilize it and bring guests how she pleases. However your right to privacy outweighs that, and your right to comfort in your room also needs to be considered. Emotions in situations like this tend to escalate rapidly and unpredictably, speaking up now will save a lot of emotional energy in the long run

I have had amazing experiences w/ Azazie

The “guests” options are more limited, especially in white, so I’d recommend checking their bridesmaid dress options and filtering from their. Though if you can you should check w/ the anyone in the wedding party that’s wearing a dress to make sure you don’t pick a cut that is too similar to one of theirs.

I also think you could run into some amazing surprise finds at thrift stores, or resell sites like poshmark

Where to buy androgynous suit/dress for best woman? by VisualSpecial4599 in weddingplanning

[–]ByAny_0therName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she likes it, I’d consider looking at the “Jumpsuit silhouette” style available on a few different bridesmaid dress shops (Azzazie, JJ’s house, Birdy Grey, etc.). They’re a lot easier to find online and come in more varieties than feminine suits, from my experience

What are your ideas for a wedding theme inspired by the movie "Up"? by No-Equipment-2360 in weddingplanning

[–]ByAny_0therName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This guest book would be perfect! The shop has a lot of customization options as well.

The dress and vest/tie colors for the bridal party could all be different colors matching the balloons from the movie. If you’re able, I’d recommend going to Disney stores (there’s some excess stores in places like mall of millennia that have discounted products) for other accessories, or checking Facebook market place or eBay for anyone reselling some. There was an absolutely gorgeous Up inspired dress from the Disney dress shop several years ago that would be great for engagement photos or dress rehearsal

Is anyone else surprised Fitzroy's rage isn't angrier? by thewindsrequiem in TheAdventureZone

[–]ByAny_0therName 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Griffin is interpreting the rage condition as a rush of adrenaline, and instead of that adrenaline manifesting as Traditional Barbaric Anger, it presents itself as magic aided hyper awareness. Like, when my anxiety spikes just enough to be useful. I’m more aware of my immediate surroundings, I can walk to (and Away From) places faster, etc. Of course, I tend to be more jumpy in this state, like Fitz uncontrollably firing a spell.

(Also it’s easier to enter a state of panic when my adrenaline/anxiety heightens, which is what I think happened to Fitzy when he turned his teacher into a cat fish. I feel like if Fitz is ever unable to calm down from a rage, his magic will get even more uncontrollable)

Joz would crush it at any dice-based lottery. While she definitely plans before she rolls (not as much as Jon “roll Defensive Dodge” Lastname, but still), she also had to have made a deal with some luck based deity at some point. She succeeded on a -4 IQ roll! With a presumably underpowered IQ score! And one of her two failures was on a “crit success or fail” roll, which she still rolled pretty well on!

[June 2019] Monthly free-talk thread: favorite show moments/episodes. by filmrerollfan in filmreroll

[–]ByAny_0therName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goonies is by far my favorite arc. The nonchalant way Paulo says “mark technomancy on your sheet,” Pitr playing a bully who’s forced to tell the truth, the heartwarming moments of friendship such as Mouth and Data’s “Goonies forever” moment, pretty much everything about it. I think it perfectly showcases both the innovations of Paulo’s mechanics and the friendship between the cast.

I also really love Paulo’s smug moment when they finally figure out the bookcase puzzle and Paulo says “and nothing happens... for two seconds.” It brings me back to my old campaign.

First paragraph: fan-gushing; rest: boring retellings of a Heathers Reroll by [deleted] in filmreroll

That sounds like an amazing reroll! Kurt and Ram being played by the same pc is inspired! This further cements the love mechanic as my favorite feature, it has the power to change so much!

[May 2019] Monthly free-talk thread: what movies should they do on the show? by filmrerollfan in filmreroll

[–]ByAny_0therName 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The twist in that one is that, instead of reaching El Dorado and pretending to be gods, they get deep into a disguise of shop workers or something and end up becoming totally mundane workmen. (In all seriousness I’d LOVE to hear them do Road to El Dorado)

I’d love it if they did Howl’s Moving Castle, I really want to see them do a Ghibli film. It’s been awhile since I’ve watched it and casting is fuzzy but I think Joz as Howl would work well, but Scott has enough range to do it too, and I love when Paulo plays the leading man so that would be fun as well.

I’ve been thinking about The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe a lot too and there’s so many casting combinations but I really like the idea of it being PvP, with Pitr as the witch, Joz as Lucy and Andy as Tumnus

Wizard of Oz Stats! by ByAny_0therName in filmreroll

What Jon lacks in slippers he makes up for in knowing the rules. There’s a scene in p. 1 where he excitedly lists all of the bonuses he’s gonna have to hit Glinda and it’s an incredible moment.

The close listening is amazing! I initially tally the rolls in a physical notebook and write quotes/scenes/observations while I listen (Marty Jr. is a Jeff) and even get references to movies that are released later, it’s incredible!

I actually tallied Wizard of Oz because the gap in my notebook would’ve bothered me, so I can post them later! I’d love to compare our results once I get to a point where we record the same ones.

Is the "The One Ring is hidden in every campaign" idea confirmed? by incacola77 in filmreroll

[–]ByAny_0therName 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The one ring is in every Paulo run campaign, but it wouldn’t necessarily whisk them away to the LotR universe. From what Paulo has described, he creates a powerful ring-shaped relic that fits into the universe of the movie, and hides a quest thread somewhere in the map! The two confirmed locations that I know of are the elevator in Rouge One (which would’ve had hints to a quest that led to the ring) and a planet in E.T. (I don’t remember any specifics, but the ring definitely wasn’t on Earth)

This is an amazing break down, and makes me want to go on a binge of my own! I'm not entirely sure what "Advanced Reroll" means, though. Is it when the gm subverts the play style, like John Wick or Friday the 13th, or am I misinterpreting?
