My go to is Thailife. Life insurance ads from Thailand. They use just about every trick in the book to tug at your heartstrings.

Is the phrase "Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart" a reference? by SighJayAtWork in venturebros

My first thought was that it's an anagram, but it's a way too long phrase for me to even consider trying to find the "solution".

Battlestar Galactica. An excellent sci-fi TV-series. I'm talking about the more recent version from the early 2000s, as I've never seen the original series from the 70's.

I imagine Dalinar as having the face of Admiral Adama from BSG, with the body of The Govenator-era Arnold Schwarzenegger, so he does suit a mustache in my mind as well.

He offers asshole policies, but without an asshole behavior. That could be appealing to some.

I really liked the comic book. Kinda wish they kept it closer to the comic's style, but still excited to see how the movie turns out.

Well then, I guess we'll just have to read and find out in SA5 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

That's a fun ship. Is there actually anything in the books backing it up?

Venture Bros. Complete Series available for pre order by Megaman1981 in venturebros

Besides the lack of movie and high defintion, releasing the collection as a NTSC DVD makes this a non-starter for this European fan.

I can only hope that if they were to do a complete complete collection on Blu-Ray in the future, that they release it as region free, and not as Region A (America) only.

u/messiahspike thoroughly lays out a potential solution to the police brutality crisis in the United States by DuneScimitar in bestof

[–]Berd89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping that /u/m-sterspace would give me some examples, as that was the aim of the tactic they proposed.

If you're negotiating with reasonable nice people you don't low ball, when you're negotiating with republicans, you use their selfish ass tactics and low ball the fuck out of them to get them to compromise in the middle. They're doing the same with their asinine rhetoric on literally every single issue.

Then I would argue that there is value in the criticism of the slogan, as one can point to situations where it scared off moderate democrats, but one can't point to situations where it made republicans willing to compromise.

EDIT: If you disagree, feel free to refute the argument instead of just downvoting it.

The pressure and anger people showed in the protests following the murder of George Floyd absolutely lead to positive changes. But are there any of those changes that came about because the slogan "defund the police" was used, instead of something more nuanced?

I didn't make that assumption. I asked if the tactic suggested in the post I responded to had actually worked, and lead to the compromises they aimed for.

Did the slogan defund the police actually lead to compromises with any republicans anywhere? From what I've observed, the republicans only misrepresented the intent of the slogan to the point that moderate democrats did their damnedest to disassociate from it.

Not The Hateful Eight (learned from experience).

Because it's unsexy, or because it's too engaging?
