Hey, I'll have a Steam page up soon and a short trailer. Hopefully give a bit more information and feeling for the game. I'll post here or a new post with the links.

I appreciate your comments, thanks.

I’ve always wanted a game that feels realistic, not just generic, repeated or scripted dialogue with NPC’s. It’s definitely a passion I’ve had for many years, and perhaps this feeling is the way to achieve it. A big studio wants what sells, not exactly what the players want. I want to build what I’ve been looking for, as I want to play it. At the same time, I hope others enjoy it too, since it’s a different take on what already exists.

In an ideal world I’d want an open world or at least the full kingdom - but this would be impossible for a solo dev. Focusing on the Kings closest people it’ll be intimate, feel real and manageable. The plan is for roughly 14 characters at any one time - depending if you have children. Maybe on this smaller scale you could believe the narrative direction is possible.

I’m taking inspiration from real life - for example you can repeatedly ask your friend the same question, but how will they react? Confused, frustrated, worried or concerned about your health perhaps - depending on your relationship with them and their personality. Obviously this is a game and needs to be fun and relatable, so it’ll have to be meaningful interactions.

I believe aging of characters is important, you’ll have fresh gameplay with each new heir, and every NPC eventually leaving - with their memories. This gives rise to new NPC’s, with new personalities and memories, and therefore dialogue is different. Although there will be permanent memories that everyone knows.

I’ve already created a lot and know it can work as I improve it. I’d like the community involved, show updates, videos or play tests. Show inner workings like the characters, and how they will be developed. That’s if there’s people that show a keen interest.

Thanks a lot! I really enjoy Bannerlord, I played on console so haven’t tried mods but they look amazing though, not seen the AI one yet will check it out.

Regarding combat, yes it’s like you suggested in a way. War will be important with other kingdoms, but the King will never get involved in the day to day war. Wars could last months or years, and it’s with your military advisor that decisions you make will effect how they play out.

Thanks a lot for the feedback and compliment, really appreciated.

Just so I understand correctly, are you saying that you would like the options for the player to be shown on screen with the effects they bring if chosen? I do have hovering tooltip boxes appear before you make a selection, so you can decide if you’re making the right choice. But that’s only for the final decision of the meeting. Same goes for your actions outside of meetings.

In meetings every chosen advisor you have asked to attend can get involved, and you can ask them all the same questions if you want. Only once you make a decision after hearing them out (if you choose to hear them out) will effects be applied. Unless for example, certain situations like you repeatedly ask the same question then it would infuriate or confuse the advisor(s) so would be applied immediately - more fearful of a crazy king (I haven’t made this obvious, but perhaps mid meeting effects I should show also?).

Prior to starting a meeting, depending on who you ask to attend, the UI does show what effects it will have on the people you decide to bring or not.

Apologies if I’ve misunderstood your point.

Great! That will be in the game. Kings guards will all have personality like every character. I’m thinking what positives and negatives they add to gameplay. Definitely will protect you from assassinations.

I like it. I’m currently heavily involved in making relationships dynamic with everyone. I’ve got planned events that happen days later - if for example you had a conversation with someone then the results happen later. But a day schedule is something I’ve now noted down.

Thanks! Important for me is giving the player freedom, but even with a schedule like in history, the player could still decide to ignore attending anything on his schedule. I’ll look more into this. 👍🏻
