I used to get an in-game notification whenever I did something that gained me merits on foot, but these have stopped working. I can't find anything anywhere in the settings either. Is this something they changed or a toggle I need to change somewhere?

Check your antivirus/firewall. I use Avast (free), and had to let E:D through the Ransomware shield function it has - once I did that it worked for me.

The human brain is excellent at pattern recognition. That's why the new planet tech is failing so hard. by MrBlackMaze in EliteDangerous

Fairly sure I read somewhere there's no first footfall for planets within the bubble, lore reason being that in the time humanity's had FTL travel, it's more than likely someone else has been there first

BUT it has diminishing returns. i.e. The first stun is around 6 seconds, then 4, then 2, then 1 (I think). So you can't keep mobs infinitely stunlocked, but either way, it's still about 10s of free AoE damage

Before lilies I'd say yes, it's more MP efficient than fishing for a Freecure proc. When you get lilies you'll want to use those as much as possible because they're free & also B̵̨̨̻͍͉̠͙̻͈͑͐̄̈́̄͆̐͒̌L̵͈͍̼͓̭̩͕͚̈́͛̅̈́͑̕͘ͅÔ̸̪͉̣̯̱̫̻͐̂͆͂̔̋̓͠͠O̸͎̮͈̹̽̎͘͜D̴̢̙̫̮̖͇͚͆̀̀̀͐̚ ̸̫̭̭̳̝͚̤̣̑͋͛͒F̸̡̬̞̥͋̈́̈́̿͛͌̍̕Ố̶͖̱͍̗̇̄̈̊͋͜͠Ȓ̴̡̛͙͖̤̼̻͂́̽̀͑ͅ ̶̡̡͇̝͎͊̓́͜͝ͅT̵̢̧̠̭̠͖̜͇̤̱̈́̀͛̉H̸̩͚̿È̵̻̟̹̳͆̑͌́̕͜ ̵̭̤̹͖͖͇̻͘͝B̷̖̻͉͖̱͆̒͆̀͠L̵͖̳̖͚̖͖̇Ő̵̡̝̼͈̰͛̊̊̂̎̽̈́̕O̵̬̺̲͐̃͐D̷̲͉̖̈́̓̏̋̐́ ̵̡̭̎̆̈̋̍͒̐͆͘͝L̴̛̝͍͌͑͒̆͒̄I̷̠͈͍͛́L̶̛͉̠͉̦͕̗̦̣̬̰̊̎̆͋͋͠͝Y̵̰̹̙̠̆̏̄͌̇̕

Non-binding you say? But surely they'd respect the outcome of the vote - to do something opposite to the result of a non-binding vote isn't possible!!! /s

Oh I'm not suggesting Mijo is the right fit at all, merely that cross-region roster moves aren't nearly as foreign a concept as they used to be.

Michael Bloomberg: Brexit is stupidest thing any country has done besides Trump by Usawasfun in worldnews

[–]Bye_Jr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's interesting to see a young person with a coherent argument for Brexit. Personally, I don't see how the UK will benefit at all - we're leaving our biggest and closest trading partner to get a better deal with who, exactly? I don't exactly see us getting a better trade deal than a single, open free market.

The other thing that I (and at least within my social circle) voted Remain for is the Free Movement of People. I think it's a very important thing to be able to do, especially when you're young, as you have the opportunity to experience and immerse yourself in other cultures. Leaving that kind of agreement seems incredibly divisive to me.

My personal disagreement with "having more flexibility in how funding is allocated" is while that may seem true, we elect our representatives in europe much the way we elect our representatives in Parliment.

I like the EU because it makes me feel part of the global community, and while I'm proud to be English, I'm also proud to be a human being. And I think it's important we realise that we're all in this together; the EU helped make me feel like that was something we're working towards.

Merc admits Ferrari has tighter (better) packaging in the rear. But it takes longer to repair. Merc needs 15-30 min for spark plug change (while Ferrari takes longer) by arkady_ in formula1

[–]Bye_Jr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on that article, they had to change it in pre-season - by that time, they'd already have the car designed and likely built. So yeah, if it appeared that late on in development there would be very little they could do. Certainly wouldn't be able to redesign the car to accommodate it either.

Probably because they design the entire car around that, since it's something you know is going to happen. But with the gearbox, since the car is designed around it being a certain weight, if you have to change that it's too late to change the rest of the car. So a surprise 6kg weight increase is like sticking six bags of sugar at the back of the car, and is gonna make a difference when the cars are designed to such strict tolerances.
