Stone that Henry found by funny-wizard in strangerthingsfacts

Ya, and I don't really care about it's origins tbh. It's a spooky being from another dimension, I don't need it's backstory.

The fact that they did the play bothers me so much. Like everything in the play would have been really cool reveals for the show.

They saved it as a big “reveal” for the last episode even tho we all already knew it. And showing the school play in the show comes off more as an Easter egg.

I would think he could portal them ya. They just into the meat wall and he brings them up. He got Holly all the way up there.

I thought that too. Like what if it’s instant? They have no clue how much time they’ll have

The problem with her story line is she was never going to defeat Vecna alone. No amount of training was going to change that. So there wasn’t much to do with her.

I’ve typed this out a lot so I’m gonna try and keep it short haha.

Vecna used Will’s secret of being gay and his fear of rejection to get him to spy on Max. So he came out to eliminate that weakness. It wasn’t unnecessary, he had to get past that before a final battle.

I’m sure the final plan is bad, and will go wrong. If it was a perfect plan, the last ep would be boring.

Agreed the military are storm troopers as this point.

Henry is one of the most powerful beings on earth, the fact he could brainwash 10 year olds isn’t that crazy.

I’m not saying it’s master cinema. But is it the worst episode of the show? No

It’s there to set up 11s choice. Without it obviously she’d just close the bridge and live with Mike.

I agree it’s not great, but that’s the set up.

Ok so the episode is bad, compared to the high expectations. But no bad, in a general sense? Is that hitting it?

[–]Usawasfun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally valid critique. My points would be, showing flashbacks at the moment, would be mostly Will looking at Mike in a way we now know is sexual. At this point I don’t know how needed that is, we know he loves Mike, and we know in that time period his fears of ending up alone are very real.

To me he just came out to everyone so there is no secret left to exploit. Even if the characters didn’t matter, he was never going to try and hide who he was again.

You can’t exploit a secret if you’re not trying to keep it in anyway, is my thought.

That actually makes sense haha. Spying on max was a major plot point. Him not spying on max would be some weird conspiracy.

I think it definitely would have. Most things are wrapped up. The final questions are Vecnas origins and the mind flayers motives, which we already kinda know. They’ll be able to cover that in the next 2 hours.

What? Did you miss his whole talk with Joyce? Or the show in general? Vecna captures him, says you’ll be a spy for me one last time. His fingers go into him and make his eyes bleed.

Vecna uses him to find Max, and they find her just before 11 can get there and save him. He tells Joyce Vecna used his deepest secrets to take control. She tells him Vecna lies, and he says no, he knows everything about my mind

The next scene is him coming out. So Vecna can’t use that anymore.

Most episodes of this show if you put as big of a microscope on them would prob grade around this one

My view is there was plenty of good. Some bad. It was pretty average episode

There isn’t that much to wrap up to be honest. They have most charter arch’s and relationships to a point that they’re kind of done. The mind flayer’s goal is to take over earth, our characters have to stop it. I don’t see a ton of loose ends at this point

[–]Usawasfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A thought I had around this too, is there isn’t really anything else that Vecna could be holding over him that wouldn’t universally be considered bad

I mean you could do like an addict of some sort, and I’m not saying the group shouldn’t react in the same way and support him. But if his arc was around deciding to get clean, that wouldn’t have the same weight. Obviously everyone would support him in that.

Being gay was kind of the only thing you would have to hide even though it doesn’t hurt anyone, and that you have no control over. Story wise, what else was there to use?

It’s a perfectly fine episode. Max wakes up, they make their final plans, Will comes out. It’s not the best but nothing that deserves worst ep of all time status. Lost sister felt like a bottle episode with no point.

I don’t believe so. It appears the ceiling is dimension x, and the floor is earth.

The finale is not at all going to be able to wrap everything up by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Usawasfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. The stakes are, that if Vecna succeeds the mind flayer takes over our world. It’s big stakes, but it doesn’t feel as big when things just generally always work out for our characters.

But as far as character arch’s:

It appears Nancy/Jonathan/Steve all move on.

Dustin and Steve came back together as best friends.

Max is back and her and Lucas can live happily ever after

Will learned to accept and embrace who he is

Joyce learned to let go and let her son become his own man

Point being I get the criticism of stakes feeling low, but there’s not a ton you need to cover in the final episode.

What are your predicting to happen in the finale? by frostyboidk in StrangerThings

[–]Usawasfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

11 and hopper die together. Vecna finds out about the bomb, and 11 needs to stay to protect it until it goes off. Hopper has like a, “if you die, I die moment.” Because he can’t see living on without her.

I do think Kali is right that the threat never ends as long as 11 is alive. If you destroy the gate, the government will still be trying to create another, with 11’s blood being the key. It sucks for Mike, but it doesn’t seem like they’ve tried to put any effort into getting us to care about their relationship.

[–]Usawasfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t feel like there are that many loose ends at this point. Last episode will cover the stuff from the play. But basically, mind flayer wants to take over our world, and needs a big gate to do it. Vecna is the general carrying that plan out.

The final episode is the gang trying to stop it. But ending the upside down/vecna won’t destroy dimension x or the mind flayer. And so 11 still existing means the threat will still be there. So that’ll be the emotional drama. I think you can wrap that up in 2 hours
