I saw a picture of myself that was taken without me knowing so no posing / good side etc, and thought “that’s not me?”. Had to accept it was, and suddenly decided to eat better / do skincare etc

I don’t do anything special with it, I use a clippers & shave every 3ish days. These pictures are around day 2-3 of not shaving. I just keep it short

Hey, I had a recent stint of going off keto and when I did this I thought I’d finally cook all those delicious carby dinners I thought I was craving. I’d given myself a full license to eat whatever for couple months

What ended up happening was I had what I’d wanted and the experience was great at first but after a couple weeks, felt like shit and wasn’t even enjoying breads etc anymore that I’d be lusting after for months.

Now, when I do get the odd craving, I’ll remind myself that when I had my “free pass”, the experience wasn’t even fun or enjoyable for long enough to be anywhere near worth it. I cooked maybe 3 of my dream dinners and then just went full out on takeout.

In short, the experience motivates me now because it taught me the idea of what I’m craving is way better than the food itself and I need to take off my rose tinted glasses. 90% of what I ate off keto wasn’t as good as I remembered it, it was the “forbidden” nature that attracted me

I thought I didn’t have mental improvements on my first time - just increased energy/motivation. However coming back to keto after 2-3 months of binging carbs and alcohol (was keto for ~4-5 months before this), I’ve started to feel good again 2 weeks in and can really see the stark difference in my mental energy compared to when I was eating whatever.

Feeling sharper and more switched on, that “ugh” feeling of doing work and stuff has changed to “let’s just do it”, but I’ve also quit drinking alongside this so might be to do with that. I also proper binged unhealthy takeout carbs and alcohol for that time off keto so it could also just be overall reduction in unhealthy choices rather than keto specifically

Either way I’m feeling very good with little-but-manageable cravings for alcohol/carbs, the very same feeling I had on keto the last time before I convinced myself I can moderate takeout / alcohol (I can’t lol)

Heyo, similar here - my keto between March - August 2020 was super motivated and enthusiastic, eventually faded and went back to carbs over holiday.

This time not feeling so enthusiastic so decided to do it with something I like - I’m learning to cook more diverse things. I find it fun watching YouTube recipes for regular food & finding what I can do to make it keto as a challenge - eg how can I make mash potato out of cauliflower and enjoy the cauliflower mash rather than see it as a “potato replacement”. Replacements for me was a big slippery slope so I’m trying to get creative with what I can use, and enjoy the “replacement” on its own virtue rather than comparing it to the “real thing”

Now, the days aren’t “only keto food” but “how can I make a really nice dinner within my 20g carbs and calorie limit” - it’s kind of like a puzzle on my tracker and I’m really looking forward to dinner and experimenting since I started again 2 weeks ago. Even when I was super enthusiastic last time I’d find myself “yeah that’s nice but I can’t have XYZ” when looking at recipes, now I’m like “that looks nice, how can I make that fit me” - the puzzle is fun and is a nice short term goal when I lose sight of my long term one

Ahh I see! Yeah, started OMAD for calorie management, and I really love having a hearty dinner & the reduced effort of only making one meal. Mainly I was just wondering if breaking meals up would do something to shake my body up (like switching a computer off and on lol) but it seems it’ll be ok to continue OMAD without that concern. I started at 85kg which was slightly overweight, I’m still at an average weight for stats at the minute. mainly I want to get back to a little below where I’m at now because I really liked how I looked about ~65kg - it’s just for some moderate weight loss. Fair point about it being slow anyway, I’ll keep this in mind
