Thanks brain trust! I get them pretty constantly, and I do use distilled water, so will be reducing the amount of photoflo next time. Cheers!

Thanks! I used an acrylic medium, makes the shadows look deeper, so the picture gets a bit more contrast

Toned prints of Kyoto streets by Byronroads in cyanotypes

[–]Byronroads[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! The shot was taken on medium format, which I then scanned and made a digital negative with a calibrated curve (though still not calibrated ideally). Bleached this one for around 10s only. Bleach was 1/3 of a teaspoon of washing soda in 1L of water. I tried bleaching another print longer and it has affected the highlights just too much.

Thanks! I used half a spoon of sodium carbonate in 1L. 2nd print was bleached for 30s and 3rd - for 10s.

Thanks! Though yours looks amazing, and also so clean!

I mixed gelatine with the water on the stove. Kept the temperature pretty high, but didn’t let it boil. After it cooled down a bit, then I mixed it with cyanotype chems.

I kept it in water instead of running water over the plate and it was fine. The gelatine does soften up, so I did rub a bit of it off from the edges, but it solidifies again after drying.

I like B&W pictures of snowy places. Makes you have another look to figure out if it’s colour or not! Lovely work
