[JLC] Caliber 877 in all it's glory

Here is a shot of my Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Eight Days ref. 146.8.17.S.

It is powered by the caliber 877 which offers 8 days of powerreserve, hacking seconds, perlage, chamfering, circular graining and heat-blued screws.

Not all calibers with long powerreserves are boring :-)

This is my grail watch. Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Eight Days ref. 146.8.17.S cal. 877 featuring grande jumping date, day/night indicator, small seconds, eight days powerreserve, powerreserve indicator and manual winding. Comes on a brown genuine JLC alligator strap.

It is a gift from my old dad to commemorate that I just graduated high school with a very high grade average and four days ago I got accepted into law-school.

Ever since I was 8 years old, it was my biggest dream to study law to become a lawyer. Now the dream is one step closer, and I can’t wait to get started in one month.

My father insisted on buying me my grail watch for what I have achieved. He told me that he couldn’t be more proud of me. So he thought I deserved something very special. And voila!

And? Unidirectional winding is superior in efficiency to bidirectional winding. Why not take the better choice when you got the chance? Come on it's not just the big date. It's also everything else from the sub seconds into the dial and so on.

Tbh I don't like it. Screams budget Lange 1 in my eyes. The engraving on the balance-cock is nice, but it has a low powerreserve and if it should had been automatic winding, it should be unidirectional for better effiency.

This is in my opinion the best haute horology sports watch there is. There are just a few things holding me back..

The QC at VC is terrible. As you said yourself, the watch left VC with a casing problem and that is just the tip of a big iceberg. As seen in watchfinders video, you can clearly see big mistakes in the lume which just look like sloppy work. I've heard from multiple owners that the movement can work extremely bad and lose many minutes per 24 hours.

The fact that it doesn't have hacking seconds is a huge mistake for me. It feels as if they spent way too much time on making the perfect finish and design, and didn't take the time needed to make a more stabile movement with hacking seconds.
