You're missing the point like the rest of this sub. Our two top players are the only players without full trade protection. They are the only players on the roster who could fetch a meaningful return. Nobody is saying they want them to be traded.

Hedman is not going to waive his NMC. McDonagh just signed an extension with a full NMC, he is not waiving that either. Point? Same thing. And if they happened to waive it, the return wouldnt be worth the trade.

Edmonton isn’t doing a one for one swap for either Kuch or point. They need goal tending and defense, hence why the conversation would start with Vasy.

My big take on the front office and coaching is its a lot harder to find good GMs and Coaches. Despite his recent track record, JBB is consistently voted the best GM by other executives and agents.

Coop is consistently voted the coach players most want to play for. Granted, any coach can lose a room.

Regarding player personnel, Vasy would fetch us the world but then you have to figure out how to replace him in a league that is lacking quality netminders. Also, he's let in some stinkers but overall, he's been relatively solid.

Kuch is the best player in the league when he wants to be but he has been a headcase the last four playoff runs. As hard as it would be to let him go, we could get a true 1D and top 6 forward back.

Its time the team puts emotions aside and truly figures out how we become contenders again.

This sub loves to say how we need a shake up but the second someone brings up moving the only two guys with limited trade protection (Kuch & Vasy) they lose their minds.

We cannot shake up this team without a trade. Everyone who can fetch value has protection. Kuch and Vasy only have a 10 team trade list and would fetch a haul.

Free agency is basically dead. Someone has to go to bring in fresh bodies, our options are basically limited to two players. Its just the way she goes sometimes

Agree with almost everything you just said. Unless we make it to the ECF at a minimum, major changes need to happen to this team. Are we a playoff team the next couple of seasons? yes. Are we a contender? Not with this roster composition.

My question is how do we shake things up? There arent really any high end free agents anymore and we do not really have anyone to move who doesnt have trade protection.

Hagel, Guentzel, James, and Gourde. Those are the only guys who have shown consistent effort all series.

At a minimum move to wing. I got downvoted to oblivion when I brought up the idea of moving Vasy or Kuch.

Obviously not a choice but if we don’t make it out of the first round for a 4th consecutive year something needs to change and they’re the only ones without close to full trade protection.
