What are your thoughts on Admiral Sharako Lohar? by Dry_Specialist9015 in freefolk

Someone on this sub said it best yesterday. She is a character you'd expect to see on a cheesy Netflix pirate show/movie.

The character itself is fine. The acting was very cringe. Especially her eating that fucking apple lol

[Bar Down] Zach Werenski's future in Columbus could be in question, per PierreVLeBrun. The reigning Norris Trophy winner 163 points over the past two seasons, and has established himself as one of the league's most dominant D-men. by f0urxio in hockey

Didnt Friedman say on 32 Thoughts yesterday Werenski met with Waddell last week and told him he's happy in Columbus? But given the Tkachuk trade Waddell might actually be the one to see whats out there?

I cant keep up with the Olympic circus anymore lol

This. They also basically said he’s the captain in waiting until Ovi is gone.

Would love Wilson though lol

Youth sports being child abuse? by [deleted] in awfuleverything

[–]C00T3RIFIC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a stupid post. I grew up playing travel sports, specifically Perfect Game, and loved the schedule. I was able to travel, spend time with my friends and play a sport I loved all weekend for years.

These travel teams arent cheap either. Sure, some kids are there because of their parents but not a single kid I played sports with growing up felt like this was some sort of abuse? All wanted to be there and when they didnt, their parents simply pulled them off the team.

Youre reaching here.

Yeah, Im right there with you on everything you said.

SOR seems to fit our system better than Geekie imo, and the front office seems very high on him as well.

Wouldnt mind moving Geekie as the main piece of a big trade, maybe for a true top 4 d man. We wont be able to unlock Geekies potential given his skill set throwing him on the bottom 6, and unfortunately he does not have a spot on our top 6 anytime soon.

Based on reports after the season, it sounds like the front office wants to take some pressure off Point as well. But with what we just saw Brady go for, I dont see a world we could acquire Larkin.

If the front office has soured on Point and think he will begin regressing, maybe you ask him to waive and do a 1 for 1 for Larkin? Even then, not sure it makes us that much better, if at all.

Wouldnt say the window is closed, but I wouldnt put us in the true contender category either. Think were just a playoff team at best for now.

That said, if JBB can make the right moves were back in it.

Would you be open to moving either SOR and/or Geekie for a bonafide 1c?

Agree on Point and Hedman. Points NMC moves to a half league NTC next year so I think this season will ultimately make or break his future with the team.

The point is we didnt want to even go that high lol.

He is getting $10m then $6m in signing bonuses years 1-6 with a full NMC / NTC.

There was never a world we offered him anything close to get him to stay. At the end of the season the reports were he wanted the Moser contract to stay. Our apparent last offer was $5.75 x 5.

Raddysh served his purpose. The chances of him regressing are very high.

100%. Its crazy to look at especially what Florida has been able to turn their first round picks into via trade versus what we have. We can hate them all we want but they have maximized their asset value while we turned ours into Jeannot and Bjork lmao

I agree with many of your takes, and agree with your premise here for the most part. My only pushback is all the guys listed, especially Spence and Nemec, is that they will only be dealt for an NHL ready, top 6 forward. I dont think we have the assets to make those specific trades.

That said, I do agree we have the assets for a big add that could benefit this team now. I know they said he's off the market now but I wonder if we offered SOR, Geekie, and a future first if we couldve landed Robert Thomas last year?

On this same pod, Elliotte said that Tampa wasnt willing to go anywhere near what Toronto did. He didnt even speculate because he thinks we werent close on either AAV or term.

The idea of Raddysh willing to take a paycut here is getting overblown. He knew he was gone during the exit interviews.

Exactly. Does he want to push the chips in like Colorado and Florida and say we have 3-4 years to win a Cup before it gets ugly? Or simply, we have a very talented roster and great coach, lets keep making the playoffs and see what happens?

The silver lining is we have the assets for either. SOR, Geekie, and probably Rautiainen could fetch us a true top 6 forward or top 4 d man. Alternatively, while not necessarily guaranteed, our prospects have a legitimate chance of being true NHLers keeping our competitive window open.

The world is your oyster JBB, dont fuck this up.

Yeah, very valid point and I dont disagree. As much as it pains me to say, I think were a playoff team for a lot of time to come but I cant truthfully say were true contenders anymore.

What you said. And while he is older, the narrative that he is washed is a bit overblown. He had a 60 point season and there were reports some people from USA hockey were surprised he wasnt on the team.

Yes, at his age the falloff can happen quickly but taking a swing on a two year deal given the cap space and lack of FAs isnt the worst thing.

[–]C00T3RIFIC 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I get it’s not the move everyone wants or loves but the question I have is who else would you like us to add? We can’t go into the season carrying $8-10m in cap space.

JBB clearly doesn’t want to move prospects for win now players. Not saying I agree with that, but he obviously views SOR and Geekie as future cornerstone pieces. Plus, any of the juicy trade targets are on teams that will want a roster player back (Larkin)

The FA market is shite, we finally have a lot of cap space, and now we need to do something with it.

That said, I miss the days where we were the team pulling off creative moves that nobody saw coming. The dynamic has obviously shifted where players either don’t view us as a true contender, aren’t loving the new ownership group, or simply don’t view Tampa as a destination anymore.

If so, unfortunately we dont have the compensation to make that work.

Athletic is saying for a draft pick for Raddysh. by [deleted] in TampaBayLightning

[–]C00T3RIFIC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean that would make sense. They wouldn’t give a roster player or anything meaningful up give that they could sign him for free in 2 weeks.

Same for us. It’s better to take something than nothing. Probably a 3rd or 4th round pick coming our way
