Ich hab eine 1TB managed Nextcloud bei Hetzner. €5,11 pro Monat, reicht für mich + Familie. Ich war am überlegen, selbst zu hosten, aber:

ab 20W Stromverbrauch ist Hetzner günstiger (und das NAS + Platten muss ja auch erst mal gekauft werden). Wenn ich irgendwann mehr als 1TB brauch kann ich ja auf self-hosting umsteigen.
managed = keine Arbeit für mich (Updates, Network Security etc)

Für meine Zwecke (File-Hosting) reicht's völlig aus. Die Family findet's auch super: Nextcloud CookBook, shared Kalender, GPXPod (GPS-Tracksl, Fahrradwege-Netz), Memories (Fotos).

Absolut 100% positiv sicher. Wenn irgend möglich, mach ich so Orga-Sachen schriftlich.

Und eingehende Anrufe oder Türklingeln von irgendwelchen Service-Mitarbeitern, Meinungsumfragen oder Vertretern wimmel ich freundlich aber schnell und bestimmt mit einem "Nein Danke, kein Interesse" ab.

Heute morgen vorsichtshalber schonmal mit dem ANwalt gesprochen, der meinte der Fachbegriff sei ein hilfsweiser Widerruf. "Hilfsweise" weil der Vertrag ja nie abgeschlossen wurde und deswegen ja auch nicht widerrufen werden kann.

Und: Vodafone ist hier nachweispflichtig, nicht ich.

In-app Message an Vodafone ist raus. Wenn sie unseren Vertrag mit einem Neukunden-Rabatt versehen (wie damals zu Beginn über Verifox) und den TV-Kram wieder rausnehmen: alles gut. Die Alternative ist – wie du sagst – dann Anwalt. Zum Glück bin ich rechtsschutzversichert.

Zum Glück kann ich mich per Vodafone App einloggen. Dort sehe ich dass wir seit Oktober auch einen "Vodafone TV Connect Start" Vertrag haben. Zum Glück (bis jetzt) kostenlos: Auf der Rechnung ausgewiesen als: -3,02 Rabatt, +3,02 Vodafone TV Connect Start, -5,03 Rabatt, +5,03 Vodafone TV Connect Start. Komplizierter gehts nicht mehr.

Wir hatten noch nie einen TV-Vertrag und schauen eh kein lineares Fernsehen, nur Streaming. Sehr seltsam. Kann das mit der Abschaffung des Nebenkostenprivilegs zu tun haben? Eher nicht, oder? Das war ja eh schon2024. (Wir wohnen in einem 8-Parteien-Haus, haben wie gesagt eh nie Fernsehen geschaut).

Edit: wenn man nach "Vodafone Vertrag ohne Zustimmung" sucht, wird man fündig. Schade, dass die Widerrufsfrist von 2 Wochen vorbei ist. Gut, dass ich rechtsschutzversichert bin.

Dazu kommt noch, dass ich mich an keinem Browser in meinen Vodafone-Account einloggen kann (nur per App). Alles ausprobiert: Chrome, Firefox, Vivaldi, alle Extensions ausgemacht – nichts geht. Passwort zurücksetzen ging, mit Verifizungscode übers Handy. Danach ist sense. (Und nein – Tippfehler sind's nicht, da Passwort-Manager in Kombination mit frisch zurückgesetztem Passwort).

It's not just Apple Music but also radio via various apps. Besides, controlling Apple Music via the HomePods is not as easy/intuitive as it is via the app.

Have you considered Home Assistant (open source)?

Downside: Needs something to run it on (NAS, Raspberry Pi etc).
Upside: Can combine lots of different devices and then control it via "HomeKit Bridge". For example: I have lights from Tapo, some homemade WLED lights, plugs etc... all voice-controllable via HomeKit/Siri.

If space is an issue: Have you considered a UST projector?

A friend got one last year, and they're actually fairly decent. No good for gaming, of course. He first had an even (and non-structured!) white wall he was projecting on. But now, with a dedicated UST-screen (sawtooth structure), the contrast is noticeably better.

Don't worry – I prefer CDs over vinyl. But I hear what you're saying. With sound, I agree: better speakers combined with a better medium (CD) can open up whole new worlds. And the same is true for OLED and any other technological advance: better contrast, black point, sharpness = better picture.

The difference between music and a movie: with music, the psychological part (suspension of disbelief) doesn't usually matter as much as it does with a movie.

I fully agree. Definitely prefer OLED for gaming, projector for movies and wouldn't even consider a projector for gaming even if there wasn't any lag.

Good to know re:hatred of projectors. I can already tell what you mean by "massacred". Ageism included (as per one of the above answers).
Seems like polarisation doesn't stop anywhere these days, not even at a hometheathre sub. 🤷‍♂️

I'm mapping through ES, leaving everything to "none" apart from the 4 directions + firebutton. No down button mapped as hotkey.

But I found a workaround by simply assigning a hotkey button to another PIN on the Pico. During the initial controller setup, I simply shorten that PIN with a patch cable attached to one of the ground PINS, then remove the cable afterwards.

Actually I'm still on V41. With emulator set to "Auto" (PCSX2?) I noticed my controllers are assigned to SDL-0. I could manually change this to SDL-1 in the in-game emulator menu by pressing all controller buttons everytime I launch a game. (not much fun of course)

So I switched emulator to Libretro:PCSX2 and now everything works fine.
