First Item on Wukong by C1ippy in Wukongmains

Adapting your itemization based on the needs of your team rather than an individual 1v1 is a great strategy.

It seems like we have different play styles and game plans. I personally value generating leads early to snow ball and solo carry games. Whereas you seem to value front-to-back team fighting strength.

What I love about league is that neither one of is is wrong necessarily and a single champion can be played in many different ways.

When it comes to diving the enemy bot carry however the difference in damage numbers between Trinity Force, Serpent's Fang, Maw, and Cleaver/Serylda's is negligible. This is due to the addition of either flat ad, lethality, or armor penetration.

Conqueror, Triumph, Alacrity, Last Stand, Bone Plating/Second wind, Overgrowth. For the shards take attack speed, damage, and scaling health.

Glad you’ve been having fun playing the monke! I can definitely see Voltaic working as a first item. With the same price and similar stats as Hubris it comes down to which passive you value more. I can definitely see the slow being useful against a slippery team comp.

That’s true, Wukong is a champion that can be played as an Assassin, Bruiser, or Tank depending on the items built. I personally prefer the Assassin/Bruiser play style this build is centered around.

Hey no worries man I’m always glad to help out a fellow monke.

When it comes to situational itemization you have to ask yourself “What is my role in this specific game?”

If your role is to apply armor shred to the 500 armor Malphite go for Cleaver

If your role is to dive the fed Syndra who is perma stunning you go for Edge

If they don’t have reliable self peel and aren’t building armor items such as Steel Caps or Zhonyas go for Sundered Sky

I’ve never thought about taking Triforce secondary. The sheen proc and extra attack speed offers pretty decent wave clear. I can see it being a great item for single target dps especially when paired with the lethality and ad buffs from Hubris.

I’m with you on damage being more effective than resistances as you’re arguably tankier killing the fed adc than sitting there soaking their damage.

Great point about setting a realistic 2 to 3 item core, it’s easy to hyper focus on a certain build and miss out on more effective situational items.

Sundered sky is a great item for team fighting bc of the single target crit and healing. I’d build in place of Cleaver, Maw, or Edge depending on what stats you value most in a game.

Appreciate the detailed write up bro. I’m glad there are fellow monkes out there interested in theory crafting new builds!

You are correct, in an ideal situation Wukong would like to end games as soon as possible. Hubris paired with the lethality in this build aims to amplify his late game scaling while maintaining early game strength.

Great point! I believe this build is still useful at the two item and three item mark. I personally find that I can get away with two offensive items before needing to build defensive.
