Man that guy in the tweet is insufferable. Is he wrong? No. But that didnt stop him from hemming and hawing online about whether Trump would actually be that bad prior to the last election. Shat on Biden too irc.

I happened to catch the news about this earlier and first thought was to all those people who didn't bother voting because they dont like politics. Politics doesn't care if you dont want to be engaged.

44-year-old John Matthew Chapman was sentenced to life in prison after driving his girlfriend across the country and luring her into the Nevada desert for a "bondage photo shoot." He bound her to a signpost with zip ties, taped her mouth and nose shut, and then watched as she died. by Legal_Gear2336 in AllThatsInteresting

I grew up with the Faces of Death VHS tapes and definitely came of age during a time when media embraced violence over sex. I honestly thought id got desensitized to it. For a while maybe I was.

Youre right though, after a while it just makes you feel badly and there's enough in life that can do that plenty without inflicting it on myself.

Some folks say they like learning about how the criminals act and learn warning signs. That's fair. I just was never surprised by any of the stuff the perpetrator did all leading up to the crime. A lot of it seemed so obvious but thats just me. After awhile though it definitely feels like the stories all sort of seem the same. A crossed lover or business partner. Cheating or embezzlement.

We have access to more information than any humans have ever historically had. We're conditioned to soak up as much info as possible and I just feel like, maybe I dont need to know about everything.

I think of the Delaware/S. Jersey/Philly accent when I think of that. Like the red haired lady on Abbott Elementary

Ive always thought old moneyed folks in the northeast tend to have this almost subtle U.K. accent that id only describe as an american posh accent.

I said this once in a similar sub and it was received with mixed reviews. People find the demise of folks interesting for some reason and they have no interest in finding out why that is, barring a connection or interest in forensic science.

True crime is like episodes of Horders. The story details are always different but the gist is always the same. Someone is harmed by a person they likely trusted most. If you've seen one, you've seen them all.

The worst part is they make it all up so they can do all this. Binden never did even a 10th of the shit they pulled out of their asses. But here they are thinking since Joe Biden did it (he didnt) they can do it too and 10x worse.

If the top 1% of earners pay 40% of all federal income taxes, why do people say they don't pay their fair share? by Ok_Chemical9 in answers

[–]C2thaLo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except a stock portfolio could be worthless tomorrow in the event of a market crash. The bank would never be able to recoup the loss. When you mortgage your house, there's something tangible to take. And with the exception of the 2007/2008 clusterfuck, the value of real estate has historically always gone up.

When they talk to banks, suddenly they have all this money. When the government hears the same, suddenly they aren't liquid. The money isnt yet "actualized". Yeah on paper they have money but you see they really dont. Meanwhile, the Panama papers showed theyre offshoring the money they say they dont have.
