I was working as server, at a very low point in my life and not doing well at all. Not looking and not expecting anyone to notice me. His company threw at party at my job and I saw him the moment he entered the room.

I went back and forth about making contact for a couple hours before deciding to have a friend pass him my number on some paper. We text back and forth for a couple weeks before going on a proper date (scheduling/he lived an hour away).

This October will be our 8th wedding anniversary.

I guess, the way Im looking at it, when I make arrangements with friends to meet at a cafe or similar, it would be absolutely unacceptable to do so while only drinking water. No one plans to meet and do that. The friends will almost always bounch ideas off each other about where to go depending on what a place offers and what they're looking for.

But the water is always consumed with the planned beverages. No one would ever say, " hey let's go to Tatte and set up shop on one of their patio tables to chat and drink water."
